Logos 4 cashes on start.

I have been running L4 on my laptop using a Samsung external drive. Every time I try to start it the program fails to load. I have tried various suggestions from the forum - pressing the control key doesn't help at all!

I have looked at the trouble shooting Vista section in the wiki, and have found the crash log in event viewer. There is no mention of .Net in there, so I am asking for help - as instructed!

The crash log is:-

Faulting application Logos4.exe, version 4.30.0.1613, time stamp 0x4ea7024a, faulting module KERNEL32.dll, version 6.0.6002.18449, time stamp 0x4da47967, exception code 0x00010001, fault offset 0x0003fc56, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10.

Any help will be much appreciated!

please reproduce the crash but upload the logos4.log as well as logos4crash.txt (select both files to put into 1 zip file).

Amazing! Is the program scared of the forum? This morning, while trying to get the files you asked for - I found myself logged in and everything working! The only difference in the way I started the program is that I saw on one of the videos that someone had started the program by following the program source file, rather than a short-cut. So, holding down control, I followed to the .exe file - and it all worked. So, I closed it down and started from the desk-top short-cut - and it works from there too.

I have added the four log files (!) just in case they are of any use - but all seems to be back to normal - a great big thank you to all who helped!

I'm intrigued by that - perhaps you can point me to the video as I'm not understanding what you describe?

Dave is the forum log expert, but I suspect that something else was running on Peter's computer that was causing the external exception.

I had tried to start the program in my usual way - using a short-cut icon on my desktop. On the video Stephen went to the .exe file rather than a short-cut - so I did the same. The program started while I held ctrl - and I was amazed.

I'm not sure where I found it - but this was the video that I found
helpful in explaining in simple terms the process I needed to go
through.

Wow to Steve Clark! *smile* I hope I don't ever need your vimeo video! Haven't so far! However, I'm sure glad it's there in case something goes wrong with my Logos4 in this area.
