Considering moving to Mac from Windows XP (Libronix 3, Logos 4) - What do I gain/lose?

Dear fellow Logos users and Support team:

My five year old Windows XP laptop is struggling more and more to run Logos 4 (and everything else). I am considering moving to the Mac platform when I replace this computer. I've been able to use my Libronix 3 collection in Logos 4, and also have added many resources since moving to Logos 4.

As I am considering this move, I have the following Logos related questions (so far):

1. How much of my current 'stuff' (books/resources, notes files, etc.) can come with me to the Mac platform? (example - all my books, none of my notes files...)

2. How would you describe the learning curve of moving from Windows to Mac in the Logos 4 world?

3. Have any of you made a similar move, and how would you describe the experience?

4. If it is possible, what is the procedure (I expect a link to somewhere where that procedure is already described).

I found this post, which was partially helpful. I seems to say that if I get Logos for Mac v4.x (free?), then log in as usual, that I could download all the resources. That's pretty cool. It also gives a link to the feature differences between Mac and windows versions. As I am only a bible study type of user, my guess is that I won't miss/notice the differences.

I am a bit confused. Are you using Logos 4 on your XP box now? If so, you will want to download Logos 4 for Mac. The license you already own covers both Mac and Windows, as well as iPhone, iPad, Android, etc.

Logos for Mac 1 was an interim release to get a Mac version out the door. It was based on Logos 3 Win, so development of that version ceased with the release of Logos 4. It is a very limited application, and in my opinion, not very useful.

Notes in the Mac version have numerous problems, but Logos is working on them. I use the Mac version 95% of the time, and find is very useful. A few others have some serious problems, but they are in the minority.

Sorry to have caused confusion. Current box is WinXP laptop. I have both Libronix 3 and Logos 4 on it, 99% of the time running L4. (I only revert to Lib3 if I can't figure out how to do something in L4 that I used to know how to do in Lib3...).

This box is on its last legs, being five years old. I am considering switching to a Mac when I buy a new computer. Since L4 is one of my most used and most power hungry applications, and since I have a significant investment in my Logos library, I was just curious how it would work if I switched (to a Mac).

Your reply is helpful, thanks. I use L4 for bible study - mostly just for myself, but also when I am teaching adult Sunday School. I would not consider myself a power user, just a hack that explores lots of menu options (and occasionally watches a training video or lurks in the forums). The point of that is that I think, from your description, that I'd be fine with the Mac version most (...95%...) of the time, too.

Wiki Logos 4 Mac includes: "Logos 4 is resource intensive on Mac & PC – benefits from fast processor, graphics, and disk along with adequate memory (i.e. newer hardware since Logos 4 being designed for use over 5 to 8 years)."

Logos 4 can sync cross platform so notes in Logos 4 Windows sync to Logos 4 Mac. Mac cannot import Libronix 3 stuff (however, Logos 4 PC can, then sync to Mac).
