Way to custom install on different computers? I can only have as many resources as my smallest HDD.

I was just thinking about upgrading packages and realized I can only upgrade as much as my weakest computer.

Logos keeps all the installs in sync and doesn't allow custom installations (I don't think.)

I have my desktop that I use for most of my study. It is not a problem.

I also travel quite often and have my very small computer that also has Logos installed. It works great for what I need it to do, but has a smaller (30G) hard drive (Asus EePC 900) which is already mostly full with Logos.

I just realized that I can't upgrade even if I want to. Logos will automatically want to install all the new resources. If I hide resources on the laptop (which I use more for reading or focused study than full study so don't need all the resources) they will also disappear on my desktop where I need them.

The laptop is only 1.5 years old and I won't be replacing it anytime soon (hopefully).

Is there any way to have custom installations or is this in the works? (Other than installing on one computer and never syncing again so it can be customized without the other computer knowing.)

Rob, unless you have a ton of resources, I would think you could completely remove Logos 3 and still have enough space, even with 30GB - my whole install is about 12GB, including index - I have Logos 4 Platinum, total about 1700 resources. Unless you have a ton more resources...I'd think it would work. Windows takes maybe 8-10GB including programs if you have XP, right? How much free space do you have currently?

Such custom installs are not possible. It is also not planned.

The assumption is that hard drives are growing in size and that such small hard drives are a thing of the past - I bit the bullet and bought a new hard drive for my netbook, cloned the old one and couldn't be happier.

Am I wrong, or is it possible to turn off "use internet" on one computer while leaving it live on another? If you can do that then you can turn it off on the netbook and then copy whatever resources you want from your stronger computer.

Or would this be bad, very bad?

Evan, it would be bad from the perspective that you would not sync anything. So study notes, markups, etc. would be machine specific.

I think you could do it... but... well I'm not sure it would work well.

Use the scan command to copy resources from an external folder eg. scan <folder path>. But if your installlation is blocked from updates via the cloud YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!

Since the program has a "Hidden Resources" option that syncs with the cloud, I wonder how difficult it would be for Logos to include a "Hidden Resources (Local)" that acts just like the current "Hidden Resources", but that isn't included in a Sync. It would just be a matter of the sync mechinism not being told to look at that list.

This seems (to my unknowing mind) like a small change that would be very helpful in making Logos 4 accessible to those whose weakest link in their computer system has a small hard drive, while allowing their other computers to run with full features.
