It would be great to be able to tell at a glance which Layout I am currently using and to be able to switch between two (or three) as needed.

Welcome to the Logos Forums. This has been suggested before, and it would still be a valuable addition. [Y]
I want this as bad as anybody, but here is a workaround if you are interested. To always know what layout you have open, while the layout is open, open a new note file and name it the same as your layout. You don't have to have any notes in the file if you don't want to. Then save your layout. Do that for all your layouts and anytime you open one, the name of the layout is staring at you on the resource bar in one of the panes.
(Edit: by the way I think that is a pretty clever workaround. )
To conveniently change layouts, have the layouts you use most often saved on the shortcut bar and just click on one to change it.

That's a very good tip! It should be in the Wiki somewhere.
