hi

is anybody else anxious over the one-stop delete button in the "Favourites" and "Notes" features.

I now appreciate making extensive use of both Notes and Favourites, how incredibly useful these features are!The Favourites provides an easy glance at so much, in fact anything I fancy putting into the branch system of oganisation, using folder and sub folders, and so by now I have thousands of keylinks to resources which are filed and grouped as I need

. However it is with increasing trepidation and nerves of steel that I use the Favourites and Notes features ( which is all the time) fearful that one slip could destroy loads of entries... because they delete instantly...with one click of the command

(i) could there be a safeguard "are you sure you want to delete this..." etc as appears in windows menus generally and many other programmes etc

( ii) a "back/undo" button to go back after making a mistake...

.... then I will be a lot more relaxed using Logos4, and will be able to continue to develop using these features more..

Also, is there a way of backing up my "Favourites" and "notes" so that if a terrible mistake was made, which instantly synchronised with the logos server, I could still restore to a previous situation?

Hi Michael. I too wish that there were confirmation dialogs and an undo button. Until then, the closest thing that we have to an undo button on Windows is hitting the "Ctrl" and "Z" buttons at the same time (Ctrl + Z). If done immediately this will usually recover the accidental delete, but it does have to be a quick "Oh no, I didn't just do that" moment.

Using Logos 4.5 Beta 5 confirmed "Delete" key works in Favorites (instant disappearance after one key pressed).  In Notes, red circle for delete has slight delay so mouse can click and delete.

    (i) could there be a safeguard "are you sure you want to delete this..." etc as appears in windows menus generally and many other programmes etc

Logos User Voice suggestion => Improve Notes - Display, Export, and Deletion Protection is currently ranked # 54 with 42 votes.  Also, # 2 suggestion => Rework notes function - in one or multiple phases includes: "• use right click rather than red x for delete"

Logos 4.5 Beta 5 does use right click for File menu plus need to scroll down to delete.

Alternative for Notes is using Personal Books (PB), which are built from docx files that can link to other places within PB plus can link to other Logos resource(s).  PB source files can be backed up (separate from Logos 4).  Also can highlight in PB, which becomes a Note file in Logos 4.5 that currently is in Beta development, hoping for stable 4.5 release before year end.  PB takes bit more effort to create and update than Notes (change docx, save docx, build PB), but PB is much more resistant to accidental deletion.  Also PB can be used with Logos data types to change pop-ups in Logos resources => Suggestion: Discourse Greek NT more customizable

To delete a PB in Personal Book tool needs a right click to display pop-up, then left click on Delete.  Also can hide PB (like other resources).

    Keep Smiling [:)]

thanks for the tip about Personal Books, but unless I am missing something, the Note files update instantly, so I can have many open at the same time, and constantly change and edit information? It might be good to create a PB from a finished Note file, for highlighting, a good menu and sub folder organisation, but the beauty of Note files is in their continual editing,  I use both.

I personally do not believe that PB is a substitute for notes.
