Text Comparison / Show DIfferences

I found out today that my new Logos 4 "Leaders Version" does not include "showing the differences" feature. I would gladly give up a huge portion of the books that came with this package in exchange for that one feature. I was really disappointed after seeing a demo of this feature, then buying the software and having it not be there. I think that this should be part of the base package or at least available as an add-in. Is there any plans to offer it as a separate component?

Peace Jeffrey!                 .....     and     .....       Always Joy in the Lord!                *smile*

I hope that you are mistaken, Jeffrey; and I truly hope that I am not mistaken.  I just went over the the side by side comparisons on Logos.com; and it seems to me that Text Comparison is part of every base package.

    Here is a screenshot:                                                                                                                                                                                     1 Corinthians 1:25

BTW, if you have Text Comparison, you can quickly access it by highlighting a selection, the hitting F7.

Milford ... I think he might be talking about the little 'Difference' button that doesn't appear until you spend some more serious dinero.

Personally I wouldn't mind 'loaning' mine out!

I rarely use it since on the english side it's largely 'style' differences, and on the greek side, which actual manuscripts are far more significant than the primary text forms. That discussion came up with the SBL greek version.

I do use the Text Comparison a lot primarily to scan key issues.

Yes, my version does show the comparison between different versions but does not show the differences. From what I understand now is that feature becomes available with the Scholar package and up. Thanks Milford, for your encouraging words!

You are very welcome indeed; although my "help" wasn't much of a help!

I wonder where Logos has the documentation for this?  I couldn't find anything about that other than the comparisons I shared with you.

Actually Douglas on another thread had a good idea ( http://community.logos.com/forums/t/40940.aspx ) though for the Explorer.

I think instead just coloring away on differences, if they moved across the greek (or hebrew) and then displayed the variation in translation per word(s) that would make the 'Difference' button quite valuable.

Of course, then it'd only be available for the new Diamond level. For this new level (and this is really hard to believe), they're requiring submission of successfully having passed both greek and hebrew; aramaic optional).

    But back to reality.

Are you sure on the level for the button? I have Original Languages and have it. OL's pretty useful; I never graduated past it.

Thanks Denise,  i called Logos today and was told that the lowest level that includes the "differences button" is the Scholar's Library.

Well, that does NOT sound good. It also doesn't sound right.

I went to the OL page: http://www.logos.com/product/10416/original-languages-library

Sure enough the 'Difference' buttons are showing. When they went from L3 to L4, I hadn't heard they downgraded OL. Maybe a 2nd opinion?

I see what you are saying about the OL version, those buttons are there. [:D]  OL did not show as an option for me on the webpage when I upgraded from "BIble Study" version 3. I didn't know about the "show differences" yet anyway. I'll give my rep a call and ask if it possible to change my upgrade to OL version. Thanks!
