To me, the selection vs. reference choice is backwards. Reference should apply to the liturgical date (i.e. 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time) which can apply across many lectionaries - not that I necessarily expect the tagging of alternative terminology to make that truly work. Selection should refer to the particular occurence i.e. the secular calendar date.
Good idea; good functionality - just implemented backwards.
