or is there a gap in Logos resources. I've been reading a book that used the term Neptic fathers. A search for them on Logos brought up nothing. A search on neptic theology brought up nothing. A search on nepsis yielded zip. Anybody have a resource with any of these terms?

I didn't find anything searching on neptic theology, however searching on nepsis I had hits in JETS 40 and JETS 37.

Also appears to sometimes be spelled "niptic" and the phrase is sometimes "Neptic Saints" as opposed to "Neptic Fathers"

According to Wikipedia, the full title of the Philokalia is The Philokalia of the Neptic Saints gathered from our Holy Theophoric Father, through which, by means of the philosophy of ascetic practice and contemplation, the intellect is purified, illumined, and made perfect. EDIT: The Philokalia is something I'd like to see in Logos format, and it's been requested (as matter of fact, by you [:)], but thus far no movement on that.

My library also has hits for "neptic" in Eastern Orthodox Christianity: A Western Perspective and Translating the New Testament: Text, Translation, Theology. There are several additional hits for "nepsis" in Beyond Salvation: Eastern Orthodoxy and Classical Pentecostalism on Becoming Like Christ.

Thank you. You'll notice that there is a reading list now - although I did not include the book I was reading.

An inexpensive version of the Philokalia is available for Kindle. - the first 4 volumes. I was introduced to the Philokalia by a Tibetan monk in San Francisco in 1971. A few years later I was friends with another graduate student - a Yugoslavian women who lived in London while the Tibetan was in Scotland. She had introduced him to the Philokalia. The world is full of strange interconnections.[:)]

I'll need to check out the additional Orthodox texts. I was disappointed that the AYBD came up blank as did the ODCC.

Though I have a Kindle app and have been buying lots of Kindle books, I've so far resisted any that I think might come out in Logos format some day. I am willing to buy again something in digital format that I already own in paper, but I refuse to pay twice for two different digital formats. Now if Logos and Amazon were ever to come to some agreement to allow people who had purchased a Kindle edition to read it in Logos the way they can read Vyrso e-books, that would be pretty nifty. However if I'm just reading a non-Logos-tagged book, I like the reading experience on my Kindle app on my tablet better than reading in the Logos app. (Sorry, Logos, you're too slow at page turns.) But the ability to search across all my digital books would be awesome. So far the Kindle app only allows searching within the currently open book. I doubt they'll ever match Logos's search speed across an entire digital library.
