Logos 4 Crashes randomly with memory upgrade

I recently upgraded my computer to 8GB of RAM, primarily for Logos performance. Logos has started to crash, possibly as a result. I have run memory diagnostics on the new RAM and it checks out good. This crash happens at seemingly random times. Sometimes Logos will run for several minutes, and sometimes it will crash right away.

Steps to reproduce

Not generally reproducible. Start Logos do nothing and wait?

Actual Result
System would eventually crash.
Expected Result
I expected Logos to run normally.

I have run the Windows Memory Diagnostic, and it comes back reporting no problems with the memory.

As unlikely as it may seem, the most likely cause of the problem is the memory upgrade. Have you tried down grading the system to see if the problem goes away?

If you have not already done so I would also suggest that you turn on Logos logging as this will help to determine what Logos is doing at the time of the crash.

I haven't downgraded, and suspect that would work - but some google searches reveal possible hot fixes? Just don't want to downgrade when memory checks out ok with diagnostics.

Log files are attached at the bottom of the original post- just somehow the links ran together perhaps making them more difficult to see. They do point to a protected memory issue...just not sure if it's really a memory problem, an OS issue, or something Logos can help with.

Sorry missed them the first time.

Do you have access to a diagnostic tool that can simulate a program with a heavy memory requirement? I have not used one for a while but PC Doctor used to have something that ran diagnostics while putting the system under stress. I have seen issues similar to yours where the memory was fine until the temperature rose. Also, as unscientific as it sounds, rotating the memory to different slots can help.

Logos4.log file has error: "System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."

Wonder about using System Rescue CD to test memory ?

There's a program I have used, and others use called "Prime95" to test our memory when overclocking PCs.

You should be able to run this for 48 hours with no errors. It's a good stress test to see if your memory is working appropriately.

I too, recently upgraded memory--through a official dealer--the memory that was even ordered with the original part order number YET still was "incorrect" on arrival. I had to get them to send it back. Not just Logos didn't work, there was also over-heating and slow loading of programs etc. Fortunately the eventual replacement stick both "looked" and "acted" like the excellent original sticks had.

Supposedly (for dual channel memory capability) we do not have to have exactly matching memory modules these days, unlike previous systems, but it does seem that some modules may still (even from original equipment stores) be faulty. I was fortunate to have a very good dealer who went out of his way to help me.
