BUG: Typos in BHS

Over time as I've read through BHS I've encountered a number of typos in BHS. I haven't documented them before but am getting more bugged by them as time passes and so have decided to report each one as I encounter it. The Westminster text doesn't have these problems so I assume it's bug either in Logos for Mac (don't have a Windows PC to check on) or in Logos' BHS database. If its the database it shouldn't be too hard to scan the database and compare against Westminster...? Either way, it will be nice to have this/these bug/s gone.
I'm running Logos for Mac 4.5 beta 7 on OS X 10.7.2.
See the attached screenshots:

Are you reporting these via the "Report Typo" option in the right click menu? You will bring this issue to the attention of the proper people this way.

"Report Typo" no longer appears in the right-click menu. It used to (at least I recall it in the Windows version) but it's not there now. Perhaps it's because I'm running offline at present?
Also, I have in the past reported typos (back when I used the Windows version) using "Report Typo" but the same typos continue to exist, making one wonder if there is any use to reporting typos (either via this forum or via "Report Typo").

Yes, it won't be there when you are offline, and Logos can't store typos and send them when you are online.

Kinda sad as most of my reading is done offline on my Macbook. Besides, Logos' performance is better offline and battery life is better - syncing seems to chew battery life a fair bit. Be nice if typos could be created offline and synchronized later when online like everything else...

Apart from getting Logos into online mode and "Report Typo" for each typo, can someone from Logos confirm that there is a problem in BHS and commit to fix it? Or do I need to call the support line and request a Hebrew Bible that is free of typos?

Stuart
Is this the only version of BHS in your Library?
I only see this problem in Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia: With Werkgroep Informatica, Vrije Universiteit Morphology; Bible. O.T. Hebrew. Werkgroep Informatica, Vrije Universiteit., Logos Bible Software, 2006.
It is not present in Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia: With Westminster Hebrew Morphology. electronic ed. Stuttgart; Glenside PA: German Bible Society; Westminster Seminary, 1996.
or in Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia : With Westminster Hebrew Morphology. electronic ed. Stuttgart; Glenside PA: German Bible Society; Westminster Seminary, 1996.
I agree that these typos should be repaired, but in the meantime there are alternatives.

Jack,
Yes, there is only one version of BHS in my library (Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia: With Werkgroep Informatica,
Vrije Universiteit Morphology; Bible. O.T. Hebrew. Werkgroep
Informatica, Vrije Universiteit., Logos Bible Software, 2006). I have the Logos Scholar's Library -- perhaps the other BHS's come from Silver or Gold library?0 -

Not sure when I acquired these. I had Original Language, then graduated to Gold with the introduction of Logos for Mac 1, then finally to Platinum with the release of L4. I may have purchased an original language bundle at some point. Sorry, but I do not remember.
Those other two resources do not appear in any Base Package. Version 4.2 is available here http://www.logos.com/product/1979/biblia-hebraica-stuttgartensia-bhs-hebrew-with-westminster-42-morphology However, it is $99.95.
Will send an email to Logos to make sure someone who can get things done sees this thread.

Any way to know if / when Logos will correct this? Or at least obtain some word from Logos that they are aware of this issue and will attend to it..? This is the most frustrating part of Logos as a company... the black-hole syndrome. I don't mind reporting bugs, but the almost complete lack of response from Logos (is there any formal bug tracker within Logos...?) either acknowledging bugs and/or reporting when they are fixed (the release notes don't seem to reference any formal bug tracking entries and often don't mention when bugs have actually been fixed)... Can someone from Logos (who deals with texts and typos) simply say "Aye"...?

I'm flogging a dead horse, I know, but I'm almost at the end of my rope and my "trust" in Logos is almost all gone. But, I have in the past reported typos (in BHS) using the "Report Typo" option (even as far back as my early days using Logos 4 on Windows) but the same typos still exist in BHS / WIVU. Which begs the question of why bother to report typos if Logos does nothing with the reports...?

You do receive and email from Logos that the error has been reported. I reported both typo's and received the notification email.
The fix is sometimes with the publisher of the resource in question, not Logos. It may be that they pass along the typo reports to the publisher, who then has to slot that into their revision schedule.
With the volume of resources that Logos offers, tracking each and every typo and responding would take a team of workers. There are some job postings for original language resource editors, and then you'd see what they are up against. This is a Beta forum, and I would imagine that little things like this are not terribly high on the priority scale. Typos occur in regularly published materials as well, and dedicating resources to correcting and republishing must be warranted against other concerns of the company.

I note that you are using WIVU. While I don't read Psalms in Hebrew that frequently, I haven't noticed too many typos elsewhere in BHS 4.2. I did, however, encounter 1 and was like you uncertain how to report it since "Report Typo" doesn't normally appear. I found (was told by Logos) that what is necessary is to click on "Selection" and the "Report Typo" function will appear. Happy reporting! [;)]

Thanks for reporting these; your typo reports do help improve the databases and other resources - oftentimes in more ways than the obvious. Please keep 'em coming!
With 15,000 resources to maintain, it can take awhile to get around to the typos in one particular resource, and it just hasn't been BHS/WIVU's turn yet. When it does make its way to the top of the list, we'll write some scripts to find similar instances of pronoun duplication even if they haven't been reported via the typo tool. But that work takes a bit of time - it isn't a matter of just fixing two typos and rebuilding, and there are other improvements that should be made to BHS/WIVU at the same time.

Any idea how long this might take...? I ask because some of the bugs I've reported in the Mac version of Logos are now over 11 months old and still unattended to. I am, daily, debating if/when to give up on Logos and switch to Accordance and "we'll fix it one day" sort of answers are depressing.

I have an internal build that fixes these issues. It may be released to the public as early as next Tuesday evening, but that's up to the folk who do testing and manage the update scripts.

Sounds great.

Crossed eyes — but I generally use Westminster 4.2.

Yes, I generally us that as well (carry over from BibleWorks). But the listed typos have been fixed.

Yes, indeed! Logos takes care of their customers. Sometimes takes a while; however, they always come through! *smile*
