Zondevan Bible Study Library scholar edition 5.0 and The NIV application commentary 5.1

Hi to people at Logos, it is only recently that I knew that Logos has taken over Zondervan Pradis software.

Currently I have the 2 pieces of softwares from Pradis software (as above)and they are pretty buggy and there do not have support for those products anymore.

I only got these product like 2 years ago and now the support is obsolete which is very disappointing. The reason I bought Zondervan products is because of its reliability and the company reputation for support.

So can I know what I do with them? Can I add those to logos and if yes how? must I fork out more money as I had already paid a total of almost $650 Aus for both products!

Please advice.

Hi Joshua,

First, these forums are primarily made up of Logos users. The best way to contact Logos is either by phone or email. With that said, I don't work for Logos or represent them, but yes, you do have to buy them again at full price if you want them in Logos format. Logos and Zondervan did have a discount for Pradis users when Logos first started offering the Zondervan products but that expired quite some time ago.

Hi Joshua, Welcome to the Logos forums. I am not a Logos employee so nothing I say is an official Logos policy. Today is a holiday and Logos is closed so you might have to wait until they open to get an "official" response. What I do want to share with you is a couple facts about Zondervan. First, Logos did not acquire ownership of the Pradis software. Nobody supports Pradis anymore. Zondervan finally saw the wisdom of letting other software developers produce Zondervan's fine content in more stable (less buggy) formats. When Zondervan ported their content into Logos they offered a limited time "cross-grade" pricing. That ended about June of 2010. The Zondervan resources are rather expensive and do not get offered at big discounts on sale. The firm stance on pricing appears to me to be Zondervan's doing. That could possibly change in the future due to the recent purchase of Zondervan by Random House publishing company. They are now the world's largest publisher of Christian books. Being the 600lb gorilla that they are, Random House can do just about anything they want to regarding pricing. They can hold the prices at the current (high?) rates or sell incredible numbers of everything by making it all affordable to every user. My hope is they choose the latter.

As for the Pradis software, it is what it is, and it is not going to get any better. I've still got my Pradis boxes sitting on a shelf. [:(] I am very happy Zondervan published in Logos.[:P] Incidentally, many Pradis users felt very badly about the way they were treated by Zondervan. We all paid again & again, every time Zondervan changed formats.
