You can download your books to the Ipad for offline reading, or read them online. With mobile devices, the heavy work is done on Logos servers, and streamed to your mobile device. (You must be online)
Don't have one so I cannot comment further.

The use of the term "cloud" refers to a technology - the storage of data online which is "pushed" to internet connected devices. I believe that you are specifically referring to Apple's "iCloud," which is Apple's implementation of "cloud" technology.
Logos utilizes "cloud" technology. When 1) your computer is online and 2) your installation of logos is signed in, Logos automatically downloads new updates. When you purchase new resources, they are "pushed" to your computer... you do not need to "ask" it to do so.
Apple uses iCloud in similar ways, but it is much more beneficial to those who are in the Apple ecosystem (using Mac; iPad; iPhone; Apple TV). Your music, calendar, email, iWork documents, are "pushed" to all devices.

MacWorld has "iCloud: What you need to know" => http://www.macworld.com/article/160380/2011/06/icloud_what_you_need_to_know.html
Review of iOS 5 includes iCloud on pages 7 (Apps) => http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_ios_5-review-657p7.php and 8 (sync stuff) => http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_ios_5-review-657p8.php

From another web site, learned iCloud does not sync documents with Windows => http://office-watch.com/t/n.aspx?a=1618 (can use web interface to drag and drop documents). Also iCloud has problems with Outlook => http://office-watch.com/t/n.aspx?a=1620&z=0
13 Oct 2011 review compares iCloud, Google Apps, and Office 365 => http://www.boxfreeit.com/Productivity/icloud-vs-google-apps-vs-office-365.html
Appears iCloud is attractive for use with Apple's office suite (iWorks) on Apple devices, but lacks collaborative editing between different people. Currently, Apple's Pages can export to Word doc format that requires conversion to docx for use in Logos 4 as a Personal Book.

I need some more explanations based on my question.
Apple has some very useful information pages.
Why not work through these and then come back with any specific questions that you have.
