Or: How Logos can appear to be reading the suggestion list at least quarterly - simply by keeping the status up to date.
The following appear to be complete or not convertible into a distinct change - it would be nice to have them cleaned out. Note that I've gone through about 20% of the list - enough to show it needs cleaned out but not enough to request a paycheck from Logos.:
Uncertain of what is requested:
In progress or completed:

You should add this as a suggestion on uservoice and see how many people are behind it. :-)

I may be cynical, but Uservoice just seems to be a place where users are sent to vent and Logos does what they were going to do anyways and ignores the requests.
If you look at the top requested feature, performance. It has been on user voice for years as the top feature, and is in the ignore status.
There are 16 accepted features, the top one accepted (sermon file add in) is one they were going to do before user voice was started.
9 of the accepted features have an average of 7 votes each.
Performance has been getting better. "Performance" is a bit hard to quantify. I know that highlighting a passage in my ESV in the past could have taken as long as 30 seconds to appear. In the latest beta, it is 1-2. Also, when a new feature comes along, it will often create unforeseen complications.
I may be cynical

More Logos User Voice Suggestions could be "in progress"; likewise would appreciate status updates by Logos.
Logos 4 Mac Enhancements (ranked # 18, several gestures added in Logos 4.5 Beta)
Improve Logos 4 Mac Feature Parity with PC (ranked # 36, Logos 4.5 Beta includes progress on 7 items)
Improve Logos 4 Mac Note Positioning (ranked # 70, improved in Logos 4.5 Beta)
Logos 4 Mac Program Scaling and Font Sliders (ranked # 90, Logos 4.5 Beta has many font sliders)
Keep Smiling [:)]

I hope that's not true, but I feel like it is. My submitted request for the smart flash cards for bible verses and vocabulary words has been near the top for some time and nothing.

Just because Logos solicits our input, it does not follow that there is an agreement for them to give us all of what we ask. A common gripe people have about iOS devices is the lack of Flash support. If there were a user voice forum for the iPhone, I am sure that adding Flash would be towards to top of the list. Apple refuses to do so because it would degrade battery life and make the device more susceptible to viruses.

I am not intending to criticize you, Jacob, but rather to point out something that is common to most of us in the modern, western world. We desire things NOW. If I were a software developer (I am not), I would have an idea of where I wanted to go with my software. If I solicited input from others, some of those might fit into where I was already going. Some would be easy fixes and could be taken care of immediately. Others might be discarded for various reasons. Some, however, might be good but it would take a while for them to be implemented into the direction we were going. It would be rare to get a new idea so earth shattering that I would drop everything to start working on something new. No offense, but I don't think smart flash cards fit into that category. My guess is that it is a good idea that will work itself into the software at some point or another.
Yep ... I'm one of those NOW people!! And goodness does Libronix go FAST. What's amazing is that those Libronix developers didn't need a UserVoice to make it deliver usability.
With Logos4's 2 year anniversary past us now, I suspect 'NOW!' is not going to be in the cards (ever).

Denise, I am one who argued long and hard for uservoice because I had seen a similar concept work well for Harmony Assistant. Libronix developers may well have met your needs - they definitely did not meet mine - and I had no way to "prove" to Logos that I wasn't a lone voice. Many of the features we miss from Libronix were late additions (literally add-ins) that were added long after the product was 2 years old. While I believe that Logos' chosen software development cycle creates more "do overs" such as we are currently seeing in the synchronize routines, I believe that the amount of development we see represents a reasonable level of human resources working on the project. I am glad Libronix works for you; it doesn't for me so there is no need to hijack a usevoice thread - you can add a request to uservoice to bring back maintenance and development to Libronix. Or approach Logos to purchase the product and set up your own company.
Not highjacking your thread MJ; just pointing out the obvious.
It's been 2 years; the paramount issue for why I continue to use the older software is performance ... an item on your UserVoice. #1 if I'm not mistaken.
I know Libronix really bugs you. I only bring it up as a reminder that Logos still has a few commitments to meet. One can't simply dump 1000's of books because a company is challenged to meet the performance levels of its previous version.
And I'd love to be able to use the new software regularly ... maybe just a few more UserNews votes and performance will be ours!
Just because Logos solicits our input, it does not follow that there is an agreement for them to give us all of what we ask.
True, however, typically "user voice" type services have the implication that they are interested in not just hearing what customers want, but changing their implementation plans based on what people are clamoring for. The title says "An experiment in user-ranking of feature priorities for Logos 4."
If they are just collecting feature requests, user voice may not be the best way because of the implication that they will use the user's ranking.
Regards,
Clinton
P.S. This is totally unrelated to the thread, but I have to tell people. I just became a grandpa today as my son and daughter-in-law had twin boys this morning.
Congrats Clinton on the new Grands.

Congratulations! [^] I am a twin myself. What fun!
but changing their implementation plans based on what people are clamoring for.
I agree. Logos has changed some of their priorities based on user feedback - smart tags and search while typing (quick search) being the one that comes to mind first ...

Remember how Logos 4 was going to be released initially without any highlighting at all? They responded very quickly to that. Overall, Logos has been incredible at soliciting and responding to user input.
Congratulations. My mother was a twin and we have twin grandchildren. Their mother (my daughter-in-law) said that it was a good thing she had one of each tthe first time because she was not going through that again [:D] In her defense, she did have an extremely difficult delivery.
