Bible word study

Bible Word Study does not open all available dictionaries automatically. In the DEFINITION layer of the page, only one dictionary is partially opened and then all the other entries are abbreviated to the side. I can't figure out how to expand this tab to its full or how to open all the dictionaries listed at once. Where's the 'Open All' here? (or anyone in Logos?)

If I select and open one resource another panels opens. From here I can choose the Parallel resources tab to open other dictionaries - but only one at a time. Again, it's tedious to go through each one - I'm not sure how to just open up one tab with a list of each dictionary resource with each definition in full.

Can someone share how to just 'open all of my books wide' to any particular word's definition?

Jacques - Just in case others take a look at this thread, I believe this is what you are seeing:

If you click the "more" on the bottom left, it will open the full definition in a new tab. If you click "more" on the bottom right, it will show you more dictionaries like the ones on the right side.

After a quick look, I could not find a way to automatically open each one. My best answer is to simply click on each one, which would open each resource to that definition. Of course, you can hover over each listing and it will give you a partial definition, which could help you weed out which ones you might want to examine more closely or not.

In contrast, library search Topic section shows full resource name with abbreviation in pop-up. Personally found 3 BWS definitions that do not appear in Library search Topics:

Using Logos 4.5 Beta 8, also noticed Library topic search included several more entries than BWS definition. Initial search was done for vow, then clicked suggested (vow, vows) to see what would happen to Topic search (kept same 16 entries).

By the way, Eerdman's Bible Dictionary and Easton's Bible Dictionary have same EBD abbreviation.

I think I'll suggest this shortly.

Basically, I'm thinking that whenever a search in a section yields results in a number of resources - you should be able to either select one to open (which is how it runs now). Or command select (Mac vernacular) several of them, shift click a continuous selection (etc) - just as the Finder allows you to select files. The same behavior for selecting is perfect. To make select all easy, maybe that could be at the bottom of the list.

Once it's selected, it would be nice to be able to have each entry open up as ONE tab - so it's consolidated and easy to print or email or save ...or... have each entry open in their own tab.

This kind of selection paradigm should exist everywhere it's possible, not of course just in Bible word study.

Does that sound good?

PS - it seems that those two Bible dictionaries have different acronyms, check out the screenshot again

Actually, AV 1873, ESV, and NRSV are Bible Translation choices in my customized Bible Word Study:

To make select all easy, maybe that could be at the bottom of the list.

Having a button in BWS definition and Topic search sections to open all in a floating window could be useful.

PS - it seems that those two Bible dictionaries have different acronyms, check out the screenshot again

Note: Easton's Bible Dictionary has EBD abbreviation, but is not included in BWS definition section that does have EBD and EDB, which are two different resources:

My posted screen shot has a Bible Word Study (BWS), one search and four open resources. Both BWS and search Topic section include Harper's Bible Dictionary. The BWS definition section has resources: DAC, HTKBW:200G200HWDE, and NNCD that do not appear in search Topic section. The other BWS definition section resources are included in the search Topic section:

NBD => The New Bible Dictionary, Third Edition
BEB => Baker Encyclopedia of the Bible
EBD => Eerdman's Bible Dictionary
TBD => Tyndale Bible Dictionary
EDB => Eerdman's Dictionary of the Bible
NNIBD => Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Dictionary

Resources are listed in order using my Library priorities.

Type:encyclopedia resources typically have English Headword indexing.

For layout setup, personally drag and drop stuff as desired. Wiki has Getting Started with Logos => Layouts with Tips and links. including excellent tutorial video by Mark Barnes.

Currently my most used layout has 2 items: collections and library (with shortcut button for quick access):

Opening Collections using a layout avoids creation of "Unnamed Collection" (that happens when use Tools => Collections)
