This is not anything of real importance, but for some reason I have not been able to add an avatar that will show up on my posts. If anyone could walk me through the process, I would appreciate it.

At the top right side of the page click edit. It'll take you to a page where you can upload an image for your avatar. Scroll to the bottom of the page and save and you should be good.
In addition to what Kevin wrote, note that there may be a time delay until the server refreshes.
Kevin and Thomas, thank you both. It worked. In case you are interested, the picture is of the seat of Moses in the synagogue at Chorazin in Galilee. I was there in June of 2009.
