I saw instructions here one time on how to turn an SD Card into a performance enhancement tool. I know Windows has their own way to do this, but the method I refer to was a non-Windows method—I think. Can anyone here direct me to that posting?
Michael - I think that you mean "SSD" and not "SD." An "SD" card is a "Secure Digital" flash media card, used for digital cameras, etc. An "SSD" is a "Solid State Drive" and is a hard drive with no moving parts (hence "solid state").
The enhancement comes from using the faster SSD hard drive, over a traditional hard drive, which uses a spindle (which makes it slower than an SSD).
I'm pretty sure there were instructions here for using a Secure Digital Card to advantage.
ReadyBoost is the name of the Microsoft performance enhancer.
Can anyone here direct me to that posting?
Apologies: unable to find a performance enhancing discussion using SD. Did find a discussion about using a RAM disk for Logos temporary files => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/24555/295852.aspx#295852 that includes link to Windows 7 tweaking.

ReadyBoost was designed to help a computer that has inadequate RAM (say < 4GB).
Now RAM is so inexpensive that you would be better buying an installing more RAM rather than a flash drive.
Desktop memory is ridiculously cheap, but even 8GB of SODIMM memory for a notebook is affordable. (You will need a 64-bit O/S to use > 4GB of course.)
I can't think of how an SD card would provide any performance enhancements to Logos. An SDD drive, on the other hand, could provide a significant boost, as other users have testified to.
Wikipedia has a good discussion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReadyBoost
Kind of interesting; I hadn't seen it before. I got my SSD in and took apart my new portable and installed it.
But I was reluctant to boot off of it, due to not being confident I'd get all the drivers re-attached correctly (and I needed higher-speed drive space anyway). I could easily put in a leftover SD card to do this.
