Setting resource location before downloads

I am running Logos 4 on Windows 7 within a Parallels virtual machine on a Mac. I want the resources on a shared folder living on OS X so that I can access it from both versions. However, when I start running Logos 4, it wants to download 7GB+ into the virtual machine disk (space I obviously don't want to waste).

Is there a way to tell Logos 4 to put the resources somewhere other than the default location before it begins downloading all of them?

Not in an officially supported way. Someone has figured out how to do it via whatever append is called today, but I wouldn't want to figure out how to do this with multiple OS's, especially when one product is still in Alpha.

I don't need to do it with the Mac product (yet), just the Windows one. I want to tell the Windows Logos 4 where to put the resources before it downloads them. No way to do that?

Perhaps I'll try to play some file system tricks... (I'm a tech professional, FWIW)

append is an old DOS command that basically makes it so that DOS calls to a particular directory are re-routed to another one. (too much searching for how to do this... OK, here it is) http://community.logos.com/forums/p/3559/27207.aspx#27207
