Can you be a little more specific about what you are trying to do? Also, I should let you know that highlighting makes a change in 4.5, which is in beta now.

Wiki has Getting Started with Logos => Highlighting + Visual Filters with Tips and links, including an excellent tutorial video by Mark Barnes.

Wiki has Extended Tips for Visual Filters => Examples of visual filters that includes a screen shot of ten visual filters to highlight various items.
