I use a Dell 1720 laptop- and want to use an eternal monitor which when I setup works good except, when I close the lid of my Dell it goes to sleep. Am I forgetting a setting or something.
I have done this before with my 9400 with out a hitch.

I'm pretty sure you will need to change the power profile.
Thanks had to in and change the settings for the lid.
And what a relief to view L4 on a 21" screen instead of a 17" laptop- saving the eyes, saving the eyes [:)]
