I really despair about people ever getting it about CP. We still have people bidding below the going price thinking that will lower the price, and others that insist on bidding on Wednesday so that we get only 2 days to get a better price instead of 9. For a bunch of supposedly intelligent people.... And please spare the usual comment about better sooner than later.
We still have people bidding below the going price thinking that will lower the price,
1. If enough people bid low, it will lower the price.
2. Some like me only bid what they're willing to pay - for me, on this resource it's lower than the going price. If I miss, I miss.
Yay! The Commentary has dropped to $30!
Times running out!
No, it isn't. This one does not close today. It closes next Friday. Plenty of time to get it down to $25.
(Thomas a Kempis, on the other hand, does close today, and needs just a few more bids to go to $30.)
In a week, have opportunity to bump this thread since bidding for The Great Commentary of Cornelius à Lapide (8 vols.) closes on Friday 23 December.
Keep Smiling [:)]

Personally I have a slightly modified version of this approach in that I do review my bid when the resource reaches 100% and I will adjust my bid by a few $ if I decide that I really do not want to miss out.
I also make a point of placing my bid even if what I am prepared to pay is significantly lower than the current trend price, to be honest I think that the trend price in the first period of bidding can be very misleading and may actually discourage bids as a few high bids early on seriously distort the numbers.
One aspect of CP sometimes surprises me is how high the closing price is given how often Logos is criticised for the high price of PD resources, seems to me that CP is our (the customers) opportunity to express our opinion on this issue. The way I see it, the lower we drive the CP then the lower the "actual" and prepub prices will be.
Might be a bit radical but maybe we should all start our bidding at $1 per resource to see just how low we can drive the price.

How comes this one closes next Friday but Galatians closes today? How does this work?
It all depends on the day of the week that the resource hits 100% if it closes on or before Wednesday the final close is this Friday, after Wednesday it is next Friday.
This is why some of those that monitor the process and offer advice on bidding strategies issue warnings about the status of resources that are close on Tuesdays because the CP deals seem to be better if there is more time to promote additional lower bids.
The breakpoint is noon Wednesday Bellingham time. Galatians went over the top before noon. This one went over the top after noon.
Never bid on anything that's close on Tuesdays or early Wednesdays. Wait until after noon.
Bump.
http://www.logos.com/product/10490/the-great-commentary-of-cornelius-a-lapide seems to have stalled 1-2-3 bids short of $25. Surely we can unearth a few more buyers.
It's now $25.00............ Could it go to $20??? Peace to all!
Just bid $25.
Indeed I did! *smile* A long time ago ........ and I bid much, much higher; so I am very pleased.
2 Corinthians 5:17
My apologies. I mean, "*I* just bid $25." I hope I'd never be so presumptuous as to tell someone how to spend their money.
