Community Pricing Bid Restriction

This is a first (at least, in my experience). I just looked at the Classic Commentaries on John set, in Community Pricing, and found they won't let us bid below the projected price.

Strange. I've always been able to bid down to ten buck on most items, but this one is restricted to a minimum bid of $40, which is the projected price at this point.

they often do this, and often lower the minimum bid later. I tend to wait till later to bid what I choose freely.

As I understand it the actual projected price is calculated based upon the number of bids received, they probably didn't think to develop the scale downward figuring internally that the price would be higher than $40. I'm thinking a more standardized scale would be in order though from $5 to $200 for most collections.

This happened with another resource a few weeks ago and the scale was either manually or automatically adjusted as the bidding progressed.

Yes,
but this setting a high price and then setting a lower price ultimately
"may" increase the price of the whole set overall - as some people
will not change their initial bids ..... Moreover this "may" keep
others who would have bid, from bidding at all – as some people
"spike" the overall process; $160 for the Revelation series will
NEVER happen on my end ….

ie: A 7 volume resource graph starts with $7 bid increments. A 1 volume resource starts with $1. A 22 volume would start at $22. And so on.

That is very true. Just look at the mud bog the Revelation collection has been stuck in from day 1.

When the Works of James Ussher first hit Community Pricing the top bid one could enter was $120. It was not very long before Logos lowered that ceiling significantly. If Logos really wants to sell the Revelation collection in Community Pricing they will lower the ceiling on the graph to $80. If the $160 bid increment wins out many will never buy it. Many refuse to even bid at any level.
