I am trying to get old testament passage e.g genesis 3:16, ( http://api.biblia.com/v1/bible/content/LEB.txt.js?passage=Genesis3.16&key=abc123 ). It does not bring back any results. Does the API work only with new testament chapters? Please let me know.

You are trying to access the LEB, this is only currently in the NT, you need to switch to a Bible with the OT + NT.
