I was wondering how a laptop works in conjunction with desktop. I thought I remember hearing on one of the training videos that the two could be linked where you could pick up where you left off on a bible study. from desktop to laptop. Does this make since??? Can someone help?

the documents you are working on are syce'd to the cloud and then the other machine syncs from the cloud.

Some folks have found it helpful to have their main machine offf while syncing ghte laptop, but never been issue for me

Moible Device sync is due in 2012

James - First, welcome to the forums!

Logos4 is designed to be connected to the internet. Although resources are downloaded and indexed locally, it is designed to keep in contact with the "cloud" by default. If you install Logos4 on two computers, your notes, highlighting, etc. will automatically sync. Saved layouts will sync as well.

What I think you're wanting to do is work on your desktop computer, and then pick up where you left off on your laptop.

To do that you'll need to save your layout (workspace), and exit Logos on your desktop, then open your laptop and start Logos4. After it finishes syncing look under "Layouts" for the layout you just saved from the desktop. Open that and continue. To pick up where you left off on your laptop the next time you start Logos4 on your desktop, save your layout again, but this time, open the "Layouts" drop downlist, right click on your layout name (left column) and choose "update to current snapshot."

Apple's iCloud => http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ is different than the "cloud" computers used by Logos.

In Logos 4 program settings, Use Internet needs to be Yes to enable sync with Logos cloud for your Logos.com account. Also need active network connection that allows communication with Logos cloud (e.g. aware of some proxy servers that do not allow Logos network sync).

James - the use of the term "cloud" is generic. The use of the term "iCloud," on the other hand, refers to Apple's implementation of cloud services. Let me explain:

"Cloud" technology means that information is kept on servers offsite and "pushed" to various devices. In the case of Logos, this means several things:

Resources are no longer sold on CD-ROM's, but are purchased online. When your computer is online, new resources and updates download automatically.
When you open a book on your laptop, it will open up to where you left off when you open the book on your desktop. (note: saved layouts will override this).
Notes & highlights will appear on all devices.

Apple's "iCloud" is completely unrelated to the use of Logos.

Got it! I am new to all of this but I got it working together now. I sure do appreciate all your help!! Before I purchased Logos I was using Bible works 4.0! It was very old and outdated. I went to Mac and decided I would use Logos it has been tough learning the program (still is) but I think I'm beginning to catch on a little bit. I may be calling on you again!!! Thanks again
