Baker Exegetical Commentary NT Upgrade

What is the hold up with this upgrade. Here in 4 weeks my class on Acts starts and Bock's commentary on Acts is one of our textbooks. It looks like I'm going to have to buy this book in PAPER! Surprise Angry I thought for sure in the Summer when I placed this pre-order it would be done by January.

I know I have complained about the speed of pre-pubs before, but having to wait longer than half a year is ridiculous.

Ask if you can use PNTC on Acts. Many reviews say it's better than Bock's...or you can find out who has a hard back copy and maybe they can lend it to you. ;-)

I highly doubt my teacher will let me use a different textbook. [:)]

Ah, ok. I didn't check best commentaries dot come, but hey, I like Peterson's work and will definitely enjoy Bock's work whenever it's made available. Good luck on your studies! Acts is a great book!

I was unimpressed with Bock's commentary on Acts. He quotes Witherington a lot (which is a good thing in my opinion) so you could just buy and use Witherington's Socio Rhetorical commentary instead.

I fully understand this. My complaint is that Logos is doing it too slowly for this resource. I've seen Logos fly through some resources and then crawl through others. Half a year is not unreasonable.

It is possible the hold-up is with Baker. Most of the Baker pre-pubs are still unreleased after a good bit of time. Some Baker Academic titles I signed up for a year ago are still 'under development.'

If Baker is holding this up, Logos will do the conversion and tagging as quickly as it can after that is resolved, if it hasn't done so already. I'm just glad these are being made available. We weren't so sure at one point.

I think your problem is one of perspective. You don't know when Logos started work on any given project, nor do you know how much work is involved, nor do you know how many other projects may be vying for attention. I would like to see this collection too and trust Logos is working hard to get it done ASAP.

[Edit: I just reread this post, and it seems more combative than I intended it to be. My goal was just to give some perspective. I can appreciate your frustration, especially when a class is upcoming. If I were in your shoes, I would be pacing too!]

You are correct that I am ignorant to many factors. IF this is a publisher hold-up, I would like Logos to let us know.

However, I would suspect that BECNT is one of the more popular pre-pubs. Didn't it reach "under development" the first day? Surely, Logos anticipated this. Also, all these new resources are already digitized straight from the publisher. These resources require less work than CP resources.

If Logos has too much on their plate then they should not be placing new resources for pre-order.

Joshua, I have no idea why this release is taking so long. Neither does anyone who has answered so far. Only Logos can throw any light on this, and I hope they do. Many of us are interested. The rest of us are simply speculating and assuming.

The only thing I do assume is that Logos would also like to see this released as soon as possible. It is to their profit advantage to do so. It will sell well.

If I were a student, I would not buy the paper version, just burn some on a copy machine for your class readings (you can copy up to 10% w/o violating copyright) or just check it out on Reserve. I did this with many books in Seminary.

You could purchase the volume on Acts on Kindle (you can use on PC or mobile device) then get the upgrade with Logos. You still get copy and parse for class.

Thanks for the update. I know my post reflects my frustration with the pre-pub system, but overall I am highly satisfied with Logos.
