bug: footnotes

The three main versions I use in Logos are the NIV, the ESV and the NET Bible. Each of them have some peculiarities (bugs) in the way that they are showing footnotes in the beta (I have 4.5b10). In the NIV, whenever the NIV has two superscript numbers one after another (one a footnote, the other a cross-reference), the footnote is missing at the bottom of the page. In the ESV, all the footnotes are marked with a capital "I" so the list of footnotes at the bottom all have the same superscript number in front of them, so it is impossible to determine which footnote goes where. IN the NET Bible, all the superscript numbers are repeated in the footnotes (eg. 29 29).

Appears NIV does not have a footnote if the footnote is a cross reference. In Matthew 1:23, the g footnote is "Isaiah 7:14" and in Matthew 2:6, the b footnote is "Micah 5:2,4"

Noticed ESV numbers footnotes within a verse: e.g. Matthew 1:18 has 2 footnotes. Matthew 17:18 and Matthew 27:45 have 3 footnotes in one verse.

Personally wish could click on footnote to show location in Bible text or select footnote to highlight location sympathetically.

That is getting overcomplicated (do you read the footnotes and then decide you want to read the text?). I don't think Cross References are shown anyway (weeded out by belonging to a Field of that name).

Note: I don't like this "Footnotes on page" feature[:|]

Another problem with this feature is that a footnote on the last word of a page is not displayed e.g. d after NIV Matt 1:18 about.

While looking at column view with footnotes to understand bugs (and find screen shot example), saw several footnotes in NIV and ESV that were intriguing, but locating corresponding verse was bit challenging, especially for ESV that always uses number 1 for first footnote in a verse.

Another possibility is a chapter:verse reference preceding footnote: e.g. 1:18

Another problem with this feature is that a footnote on the last word of a page is not displayed e.g. d after NIV Matt 1:18 about.

Worse: footnote text appears on next reading view "page". Also happens in ESV with multiple footnotes in one verse so footnote text is split between reading views.

A verse #:# prefix would be helpful to identify footnotes belonging to previous "page".

The footnote numbering was wrong, particularly Ch 2.

You'll find this has been fixed in today's update of the ESV. I have an earlier version 21/6/2011 on my phone** which corresponds to the new version, so the previous L4 version was clearly buggy.

Thanks for reporting this - I will enter a case and send it to our Development department.

Please update to 4.5 Beta 12 and see if this issue still occurs - I am unable to reproduce it.
