Why upgrade from Logos 4 silver to platinum?

Hi,

This is my first post on this forum. I've had Logos 4 silver for about a year now. This upgrade deal for Christmas is appealing, but I want to know what some seasoned users think. Is it worth it to upgrade from silver to platinum? I realize it's an opinion, but I'm curious. It seems as though I'm not getting much more. Also, how does the earned credit thing work? Thanks in advance.

I upgraded from Gold to Platinum when it became available about 2 yrs ago. I have really enjoyed the extra resources. Well worth the upgrade, IMHO.

The best way to evaluate an upgrade is to pick out which titles you would like to have. Calculate what it would cost to buy those separately. That is usually more than the upgrade price. Don't worry about the titles that you think you may not use.

Thanks Edwin. I noticed they are also offering a lot of 'new' stuff. I'm considering the trade in deal and i don't want to lose what I already have. Thanks again for a quick response. I love Logos, and this forum is another one my newfound perks.

One of the principles of Logos is that you never lose any resource that you have purchased. Even if the title is no longer available for purchase from Logos in the future, it remains in your Logos library.

There are a lot of excellent resources that are not included in any package.

I have a "wish list" that I keep mentally and wait for those to go on sale and add to my library and sale prices. After the Christmas sales are over, March Madness will be just around the corner.

The forums provide a good place for you to get input from other users if you're looking for advice.

I also recommend contacting Dave Kaplan when you get ready to buy. Developing a relationship with a Logos salesman really helps.

Also have upgraded to Scholar's Platinum.

My favorite commentary series is included in Scholar's Gold (and up); wiki Logos Resource Reviews => UBS New Testament Handbook Series and => UBS Old Testament Handbook Series

Also may want to look at Christmas Collection specials => Look what I just found: last year's Christmas collections are back!

Also, how does the earned credit thing work?

Credit will appear in your account on Logos.com; when checking out, have option to use credit to pay.

Also have option of discussing purchases with Logos Sales, who can apply your credit to purchases.

I switched from Silver to Platinum before the Summer of 2010. It was the best decision I have made. It really allowed me to utilize everything Logos had to offer. I had more (and better) commentaries - of course, this also was when the Baker Exegetical Commentaries were still in the package - but the package still has Pillar, UBS Handbooks and the NIGTC. With the added resources my library searches became more comprehensive and BDAG really was a nice addition to my Greek word studies!

I see you're an Mdiv student. I'll be finishing mine this Spring. Took me 5 years to complete a 3 year program- 88 credit hours.

I suppose the New American Commentary alone is pretty impressive.

I also like the idea of some nice credit for recent purchases.

I'm on Gold, and I personally don't see any reason to move beyond that. The few resources that I am interested in I can purchase separately.

I upgraded to Patinum and really enjoy it. It also makes upgrading cheaper later on.
