I would like to see all the Catholic resources to be labeled as such. I'm sure both the Catholics and Evangelicals would like this.
Hi Joshua
Does the "Christian Group" filter on the Logos.com products page give you what you are looking for?
Clicking on "Catholic" takes you to:
If this framework does the job - and I think it should - then presumably it is a matter of appropriate tagging.
Does this suffice or am I missing something?
Graham
Just my two cents for this suggestion:
As someone who is not a Roman Catholic (but is a catholic) and as someone who is not part of the Evangelicals camp, I am not a big fan of this suggestion because it makes the Roman Catholic resources sound like they are second class resources. Therefore, I cannot support this suggestion
Now if EVERY resource was tagged for its theological bent, that would be a different story. I could support this suggestion because it treats every resource the same.
Hi Tom
The filter on the Logos.com products page which I referenced above seems to suggest that Logos is going down this route - how far along they are is something I can't comment on.
Many of the commentary series and journal include Catholic authors - but are not specifically Catholic resources. And when I recently labeled a resource I considered Catholic, several insisted that it was a neutral lexicon. The point is that resources of special interest to Catholics and resources written by Catholics overlap but are not the same set. What seems to me to be the best solution is to provide biographies of authors including whatever the author has made public of their theological / denominational background. That allows the buyer to divide authors according to the buyers' whims.
And I am quite willing to let Logos classify products as Catholic as meets their business goals ... Unfortunately, it doesn't fit the Logos' business model to provide the categories I really want - crackpot, idiot, uninformed but well intentioned, well thought out despite my not agreeing, definitely deserves careful consideration although from a perspective other than my own, same-old same-old, great - that's exactly what I believe and I don't even have to think[:D], oh great - provokes me into actually changing my position or defense of my position[:(]
Great observation Graham. For some reason I never noticed that option. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. [:D]

I might not be a Catholic, but I was not trying to classify Catholic resources as second rate resources. I am just a stickler for knowing a resources theological position. I often find that Logos product page simply does not answer many of my questions and I end up going to a different website to figure out what position a particular resource promotes.
In this case, your suggestion makes even more sense! I wish Logos would tag all their resources more specifically. For instance, there was a recent thread on dispensational and premillennial resources. It would be nice if these resources were labeled as such - especially commentaries. I do not want to have to go to another website to find this information out.
As I say this I also realize that this is not always possible with all resources. But there are plenty of resources that have clear theological positions.

That sounds great! But, of course, they need to be sure to follow my opinion regarding that since anything else is suspect. [:D]

Wonder if Logos plans to enhance web site with user reviews and tagging so other Logos users can read various perspectives ? (both review and who wrote it)
Keep Smiling [:)]
thanks, George. that was my "back to work after Christmas holiday full-on chuckle" this morning. [:D]
