How do you plan on spending YOUR Christmas credit?…

Towards the upgrade of the commentary set that I purchased. The credit will cut the price almost in half.

[I hope the OP doesn't mind me borrowing this thread - it could give others ideas as to what to spend their credit on... [I]]
I'd be grateful for a few suggestions on how to spend my Christmas credit. I have about $500 to spend and qualify from academic pricing.
I currently have the Platinum base package with the following main additions: NIVAC NT, NICOT/NICNT, Baker Exegetical (but not the upgrade pack on pre-pub), Baker NT commentary, Essential IVP Reference Collection v3.
I use Logos mainly for preparing sermons and for studying towards my MA in Biblical and Theological Studies. I will at some point (maybe in 1 year or so, as I'm studying part-time) have to take Hebrew and Greek, but I'm not studying these right now.
Some thoughts I'd had (I wish I could do them all!):
- Beef up my dictionary set maybe with AYBD or ISBE (I've seen the various threads discussing the benefits of each)?
- NIVAC OT - I like NIVAC NT - is this worth getting too?
- IVP Dictionary of the OT?
- Buy HALOT to help with later Hebrew studies, although I won't need this for some time so would I be better off buying something else instead?
- Buy the four or so Pillars commentaries I don't have?
- Put it towards another major commentary set, if so, what?
I'm after resources that will complement, and essentially not duplicate, what I've already got. Any and all suggestions or thoughts would be very welcome! Happy New Year to all!

Special offer on update to Pillar Commentary, e.g. $168 for the 4 volume update.

It's my understanding that pre-pubs are NOT eligible for Christmas credit application.

That is correct, for the moment. There are rumors that Logos is working of enabling the website ordering software to process Credit for Pre-Pubs sometime in the near future. Now I would not count on it happening in the next few weeks when a lot of cool Pre-Pubs will be shipping. But I hope I am wrong.

You might consider Word Biblical Commentary (WBC)

I would

I'm hoping to pick up WBC w/the upgrade, additional dictionaries (ISBE, IVP), Grudems, HALOT, the Biblical Counseling Bundle with Jay Adams books, the Piper Sermon Series, possibly the Tozer series, and hopefully the Jonathan Edwards set if I can get an excellent price on it when it's published

Church of God Digital Library Collection 9 $300
I never saw it in Pre-Pub. It just appeared in New Products. I think it would hyave generated more excitement.

Dan it was in the print. It said that the credit was unavailable for pre-pubs at this time yet it was phrased in such a way that it might change in the future. (no time frame)

Did you only purchase those resources to get Christmas Credit? did you not want them?

One was a bit suspect, but for the most part i did want them, but I can live without any of them, yes I misread the details, Budgeting I planed for the bulk of my pre pubs to be paid for with my credit while I paid off the december purchases. Several items on pre pub are very important to me like New Interpreter's Bible, they are out of my 2012 budget now if Logos credit can not be applied. Even when I was talking to Logos accounting department I was told thats a smart idea. Although by her own admission she did say she was totally unfamiliar with the Christmas credit program.

Don't return your December purchases until we get the final word from Logos. You might contact Dan Pritchett <dan@logos.com> (head of marketing) and explain your situation. Perhaps he will give you clarification.

The short answer to the thread title- quickly

I'm excited about this collection as well but I'm waiting (and hoping) for it to be available on the iPad. I use my laptop for study and sermon prep but I really prefer to do most of my reading on the iPad.
I'm thinking of using my credit on the Exegetical Commentaries Bundle.

I have been pondering this same question for awhile now. I want to spend it wisely, but I have a tendency to spend "free" money (such as gift cards) frivolously.
Currently, I own a pretty awesome library. I feel very blessed that God has allowed the provision for such a remarkable program. Just as mechanics spend thousands of dollars on tools - pastors, too, have to invest in "tools". Logos has also greatly helped me in my academic endeavors. I cannot imagine writing a research paper without it!
I have the Platinum base package (I upgraded when the Baker content was still part of the deal!) plus I have added to it over the last few years. I have NIVAC NT, WBC, MacArthur bundle, all the IVP dictionaries including the OT ones, HALOT, etc.
There is not much that is missing that I actually NEED, but of course there is plenty I want! However, I may never own the super expensive NICOT/NICNT. Anyway, here is my list of resources I'd like to buy with my credit (obviously I wont have enough to cover it all [:S] I'll have to continue to dream):
1.Holiness to the Lord: A Guide to the Exposition of the Book of Leviticus by Allen Ross
2. Baker Encountering the Bible Collection (I simply don't use my dead tree versions!)

3. The Synoptic Problem: A Way through the Maze by Mark Goodacre

4. Lectures in Systematic Theology by Henry Thiessen

5. Christian Theology by Millard Erickson

6. Romans by Donald Barnhouse
7. The Numerical Bible (7 vols.)

8. The Annotated Bible (9 vols)

9. Interpreting the Parables by Craig Bloomberg

10. A Marginal Jew: Rethinking the Historical Jesus (4 vols.) by John Meier

I'm with you there Joshua. There will be a great temptation to spend my Christmas credit because it's there, or because I can, rather than patiently waiting to see what resources I need. I'm new to Logos and in a short space of time have acquired a lot of great resources. The truth is, I need to get to know what I already have much better, rather than rushing to add to my collection. However, that's easier said that done...
At the present time, I'm tempted to buy the AYBD, and maybe the few volumes of PNTC that I'm missing and then sit on the rest of my Christmas credit.
I hope Logos change their minds about not allowing us to use Christmas credit for pre-pub items because I would dearly love to get the BECNT upgrade pack too.

I, too, hope that Logos allows us to pay for our pre-pubs with credit. I wonder if this would include those resources that were community priced.

I'm thinking of holding on to it, and wait for a good deal.
I purchased the AYBD, Baker Exegetical on the NT and NIV App Commentary of NT for Christmas, so I'm just enjoying using these resources right now. The Baker and AYBD especially I'm truly enjoying.
I have $157, so I've given thought to purchasing the ISBE, but I don't feel like it is necessary if I already have the AYBD and IVP Dicationary on NT...

So am I, why people seem to be in such a rush to spend their credit at a "non-deal" time is beyond me - but I would imagine it's exactly what Logos were hoping for.

Make sure that you consider buying http://www.logos.com/product/10056/catholic-library-builder as this includes all four volumes (whioch cost on their own $200) as well as a mass (on reflection this is probably an unwise term to use at this point of time) of other really interesting stuff, particularly Summa Theologica which is $250 on its own and deserves a place in any theological library and http://www.logos.com/product/5750/raymond-e-brown-collection ($180) as well as Bede ($60) and a whole host (good grief I have done it again) of valuable source material (Pohle, Newman, Butler's Saints, Chesterton, Church Councils , . I am as Reformed as you can get and my only complaint about this collection is that it included many recently published works at a fraction of the price I paid.
As for me I am buying:
A Commentary on the New Testament from the Talmud and Hebraica (4 vols.)
http://www.logos.com/product/5912/a-commentary-on-the-new-testament-from-the-talmud-and-hebraica
Old Testament Pseudepigrapha (2 vols.)
http://www.logos.com/product/5746/old-testament-pseudepigrapha

I'm considering the following resources:
http://www.logos.com/product/5321/commentary-on-the-new-testament-use-of-the-old-testament
http://www.logos.com/product/4232/baker-exegetical-commentary-on-the-new-testament

http://www.logos.com/product/4714/ivp-dictionary-of-the-old-testament-bundle
http://www.logos.com/product/1660/anchor-yale-bible-dictionary
http://www.logos.com/product/9934/the-eerdmans-dictionary-of-early-judaism
I get an academic discount, so the the price for these items comes down quite considerably. I only have $209 to spend so I'm trying to stay within budget considering the reason I have credit in the first place is because I spent a lot during the Christmas sale (picked up Pillar NT, NIVAC, and upgraded to Gold mainly to get NIGTC). I'm trying to figure out what makes the most sense to me (seminary student, teach adult Sunday school). I really want to grab Baker, but since I recently purchased three top notch commentaries (and I addied NICOT/NICNT in August) I'm not sure that is the best way to go.

I might have it and might be able to tell you if it is worth getting if I knew what you were talking about.

I am using my credit for
And
http://www.logos.com/product/5442/preaching-gods-word
Yes both are by the same author, but they look very good. I have the shorter book Journey through God's Word (on Kindle), and I have enjoyed it very much. I want to take a look at it in depth in Grasping God's Word, and then looking at how it can then be applied to preaching/teaching the Bible in Preaching God's Word.

If, you meant...
(a) the Original Language Library (link) then I would reply in the affirmative.
(b) the BDAG/HALOT Bundle (link) as an add on to a base-package I would also reply in the affirmative.
(c) Learn to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew with Logos Bible Software DVD set (link) then I would suggest that you think long and hard before making a purchase.

Hi BKMitchell and Alan Charles,
I meant the "Learn to use Biblical Greek and Hebrew with Logos Bible Software". I have the Platinum Library so I already have the Original Language Library.
So thanks BKMitchell for your advice on the (c). I will not purchase it. I've seen some good collections for the same price.
Finally, I think I'll get the Expositor's Bible Commentary.
