How do I install new books to a computer NOT on the internet?

Good and blessed New Year's Morning:

I have downloaded resources (a new bible and 2 other free books) and saved them to a thumb drive but am unale to install them on another comuter that does not have an internet connection. How do I install these new books to the computer without the internet from my downloaded files?

Such a beautiful program and thank you for your dedication to improving it.

You will need to place them in the resources folder. But more than than that you will need to somehow update the licence file. I assume it is the LicenseManager folder. You probably should wait to talk to someone at Logos tech support. To be sure.

I agree. People (I am one of them) have been complaining about the use of the internet and having to upload our docs to Logos' server. We were told that we could turn off the internet setting, and then purchase CD/DVD to update our computer.

You have to copy the new resource files and new license file (it's a DAT file) to your resource folder and license folder on your offline computer and the new resources will appear after you restart Logos. (If you don't know where these files are let me know).

Occasionally this will not work after Logos has an release update. Then I have to copy the new installation file from my online computer and run that on my offline computer. I don't know if Logos recommends this or not, but I do this every time I purchase a new resource (which is frequently) and have never had any problems with Logos running correctly.

I will occasionally connect my offline computer to the internet and when I do there are additional downloads I receive from Logos (but I don't know what they are) . So, even though what I am doing allows me to access my resources on my offline computer, there are additional downloads I only receive when I connect to the internet.

This is the preferred way to keep the computer up to date with resources, licences, metadata and the latest version of L4. It will also sync documents from your online computer.

It is better to use the scan command in Logos 4 e.g.

scan e:\resources

where e: is a portable drive (e.g. USB) and \resources is the folder on that drive.

Thanks for your response but I do not have a license FOLER nor a new license for the new resources. I also do not know where the resources folder resides. I am using Windows 7. When looking through folders I found none of the folders you specified. Feeling kind of ignorant, but still need help OR can these resources be added without an online computer. (we are not necessarily the richest congregation)

Brian ... Dave will no doubt be back. But in the meantime, here's the location of the directories. I have mine on the 'D' drive on Windows7; you probably have yours on the 'C' drive. Other than that, the location is the same (excepting the random lettered directory) as below:

Does your online computer have the same Logos account as the offline computer (because updating licences manually will create problems if they are different)? But you can update resources from your thumb drive using the scan command (see my previous post).

The simplest way to completely update (resources, documents and software) is to take the offline computer to your home and connect to the Internet.

When done correctly you see the command repeated under Tools.

The computer connected to the internet, I get my files by downloading the resources from my "account" page, and I was told there was a way to install them on the computer that was NOT online when I spoke to LOGOS when buying the version 4 back in September. As of yet I have not been able to install new books. Looks like I may have to find a way to hook up the computer to the internet as it does seem it is the only way.

You have to scan the resources on that removable drive after you connect it to the offline computer e.g. scan e:\ (get your drive letter from My Computer).

I have become a believer in the fact that the simplest way to get the resources installed is hook up the computer to the internet.

After speaking with customer service, he admitted that the program was designed to be updated through the internet so as to keep track of licenses.

I AM CONVINCED and it worked.

FYI... It also forces you to upload all of your personal information (notes, prayer list, etc....)
