Android to Blackberry conversion for mobile apps
The following is an open letter from RIM Blackberry to app developers on how to convert the android applications they have developed to the RIM BAR format. Please, Please, Please, Logos take the time to do this for those of us who want to use Logos on our Blackberry Playbooks and our BB phones.
To Whom it May Concern:
Following the BlackBerry Developers' Conference in October, Research in Motion released an initial BETA developer version of the BlackBerry Tablet OS 2 platform for the PlayBook.
Included in this release is a native Android 2.3.3 run-time, which allows anyone to recompile an Android APK for use in the BlackBerry PlayBook in BAR format. Developers have been granted access to both on and offline conversion tools using only a few clicks as shown in the following link.

Using these tools, individual PlayBook users have been actively collaborating and converting various applications to demonstrate just how easy the process is. In addition a list of converted applications has emerged with download links, the working status, and general usage information available. It is hoped that this list of converted applications will help encourage developers to re-release their respective application on the BlackBerry Playbook.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Currently, your application has been added to this list as it believed to be a free application on the Android Market, available as a free trial online, or offered for free through the Amazon Marketplace. If this is not the case, or for any reason you wish to have your application removed from the apk2bar list, please e-mail us at removal@bbxteam.com and we will have your application permanently removed.

With your APK already converted to the PlayBook BAR format, it is recommended that you review your application and attempt to port an official version of your application when possible. You can even test your application without owning a PlayBook using RIM's own Tablet Simulator:

The problem is Blackberry is about to go the way of Palm, and there is no real benefit for Logos doing this.

That is not really what this about. If you are interested in the current and future market viability of RIM (parent compay of Blackberry) then Crackberry.com has some fantastic forums filled with people who will be wiling to spend time on that topic with you.
I am interested in getting the attention of those who work with developing apps with, for, or can help me get the Logos for Android app converted using the information above.

Converting .apk files to .bar is actually quite easy to do yourself once you have the necessary files installed. I've tried converting various versions of Logos, Biblia etc. and none of them work. They crash every time. There's clearly something Logos is doing that's specific to the Android environment but different when running under the PlayBook OS.
I'd love to see Logos running on the PlayBook too and would be happy to work/test this with the devs. Here's hoping...

I've seen the crash reports coming in from the Blackberry Playbook devices. It looks like their conversion process doesn't support native code which the Logos Android apps require. Do Playbooks run on the ARM chipset or something else?

The playbook processor is an OMAP 4430 by Texas Instruments (1GHz Dual-Core ARM Cortex-A9 Processor)

Fingers crossed you can get Logos running on the PlayBook... its far more powerful than the other Bible Apps I'm having to use in its place. :-)

Hi:
I am not an expert in how this works but I would really like to be able to access my Logos library on my Blackberry Tablet.. Accessing through the browser via biblia. com or library.logos.com is limited. Even if we could get Vyrso working on the playbook would be helpful.
