An Upgrade is Required.

The other day Logos asked me to upgrade, I did and went about my business, later I came back and the upgrade had stalled, this does happen (rarely) so I waited about an hour as I had other business to attend. Long story short, everytime I start the software (logos) i get this error message "Logos Bible Sfotware 4 cannot be downgraded to an earlier version of the software. To continue running Logos 4 you must upgrade to version 4.3 SR-8 or later."

Then it goes on to give me a link provided below, I follow the instructions and the process starts over then stalls soomewhere after the install has begun. If I try to do it again without restarting my computer it fails as soon as the .exe file tries to poen and gives me a runtime error, saying that the application has requested runtime to terminate in an unusual way.

Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. I am behind from the holidays and cannot afford this constant interruption.

What is your current version (see About Logos Bible Software when you select the ? icon).

Let's see if we can fix the current version by repairing it from Control Panel. In Programs and Features select Logos 4 and choose Repair on the toolbar.

Enable logging according to http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging then start L4. If it fails upload logos4.log, logos4indexer.log, logos4setup.log (read the wiki article for uploading).

My version is 4.3 SR-7, version 4.30.0.1621 I had to obtain it from the log. I tried the repair and it would not work. It simply said "Another application is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install." I went to the processes and shut down the logos process that was running, but the result was the same. I am attaching the log plus a couple of other logs that were already there. Thanks for your help.

The Logos4Crash.txt file is from an earlier crash.

The Logos4Indexer.log file is from back in March of last year.

The Logos4Error.log file has some older errors noted, but a number from today. They all indicate a connection problem with the Logos server.

The Logos4.log file is from today and indicates that it could not set the focus to the user password box.

Something is interfering with your connection to the Logos server or with you logging onto the server.I don't know what the answer is, so I'll just ask a couple of questions:

Have you recently changed or updated your anti-virus software? What antivirus/Internet security program are you using?

Are you trying to access Logos over a network? If so, has anything changed with network security?

I have not changed anything or had any other issues. I am using webroot, which I have been using for about three years. No changes to my network setup in the last nine months. The log (logos4.log) is the one I created by pressing and holding control while trying to start logos. The other logs were just in the folder. While trying to open the program with the control key held, logos did display a login error, however that is the only time that has ever happened.

The key has something to do with this new version. The file hangs up and will never finish installing.

In the morning when I reboot my computer, I can try to reinstall that new version, after it hangs up, I should be able to open (if it works the same way it did today and yesterday) logos and everything will work fine, until I close the program and try to re-open it.

Strange behavior.

There are two files that you can delete and try to start again. They are Updates.db and Updates.db-journal found in your UpdateManager folder which is located at: C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\{Random String}\UpdateManager.

There have been problems with Webroot - see http://community.logos.com/forums/t/42487.aspx

The current problems stem from an unsuccessful installation of SR-8, so I would disable Webroot (or uninstall it) and try to update from http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/Installer/Logos4Setup.exe

If successful you think about reinstating Webroot.
