basic question on SESB

i am in process of self learn hebrew when i get relative comfort will start greek......when do i need sesb for apparatus onhebrew ? Do i have it in platinum?

I have seen threads on sesb 4 (lack of) am i stilll quite far from need of these scholarly product? suggestions?

Apparatuses are meant for exegetical purposes, helping you to deal with textual criticism - you don't need them for learning Hebrew per se.

The SESB is a collection of resources provided by the German Bible Society. Concerning the original language resources, they differ from those offered in Logos Base Packages, notably when it comes to the apparatuses - you won't find the apparatuses that come with the SESB in a Logos Base Package.

The current version of SESB is SESB 3. There are no informations about when SESB 4 - if at all - will be published. They wanted to do it last fall, but the project got delayed and was then frozen.

(1)When, you are able to read Hebrew with understanding, then the apparatus will be of more benefit to, you.

(2)No, due to licenses restrictions the apparatus of the German Bible Society can not be included in Logos' base Packages.

(3)The SESB 3, comes in two basic flavors for those can upgrade from a previous version of the SESB.

(A) There, is a smaller (18 vol) add on version for those who own a Logos base package (link)
(B)and there then there is the full (52 vol) Libronix version (link)

The SESB 4 was supposed to be released on November 15th, 2011, and it should have provided access to the WIVU Database in the Logos4 format(for owners of the full SESB), it is speculated that do to technical difficulties among other things the SESB4 has been put off. Libronix offers a multilingual interface, but currently Logos4 does not, also the WIVU syntactical database runs naively in Emdros search engine.

My, suggestion to you is continue on with Hebrew, and learn to enjoy reading it. After, you have a basic grasp of Grammar, Vocabulary and morphology you might want to get something like the Readers Hebrew Bible, to encourage you.

The biggest problem with the German Bible Society, which would have been the main party in upgrading the SESB, simply puts far too little efforts in this product. There is just one single person responsible for the whole thing in Stuttgart, and they can't even manage to answer to emails and forum entries. It's very frustrating, but what can you do ...
