Windows7 Users - Can you help.

Peace and Joy to my Logos Forums Brothers and Sisters!

For the last 45 minutes my i7 Acer - 8 G Ram - has been on an endless loop updating - stuck(?) at "3 of 7.". Have any of you experienced this? Will it end? Do I dare turn it off when the screen tells me not to?

Are you talking about a Windows update? If so, is it stuck downloading or installing?

I get this from time to time - when a Windows Update gets stuck.

Eventually I turn my laptop off and back on again (once I left it overnight and it still hadn't moved!) and watch to see whether it starts again. So far it has and so I continue to live in hope!

I can't think of anything else to do but to turn it off but, depending on the stage it is in the updates, it might leave things in an unstable condition.

Sorry I don't have anything more than this.

Is this a Win7 update or a Logos update?

I have no expertise, but I am wondering if

(1) your internet connection is "slow" (in Microsoft terms). I have had Win7 updates of over 100mg files.

(2) the update program (or a security program) is waiting for you to respond.

I would open the Task Manager (a. simultaneously press these three keys: control, alt, and delete. b. Select task manager and open the Applications tab). what do you see?

Thanks much for your responses! Just turned it off; and I am hopeful! (-smile-)

My daughter gave me a 64 G iPad2 for Christmas; so I am not as upset as I likely would have been in former days! I can actually use the Logos Forums AND L4 even with computer problems.

Dennis, Graham, and Fred! You have good hearts, for sure! .. for sure! ............... I am grateful for your responses .......... It was a Windows update. I finally turned off the computer (had to unplug it!) ....... then restarted in "safe" mode. Then shut it down and restarted it. More windows updates then to download. And a big nVidea graphics driver download and install. Had to restart twice more. Then finally -- everything is working. And it seems very strongly, indeed!
