Question(s) about eBible being powered by Libronix

Bob and Company,

I was planning on purchasing several copies of the eBible "Bible Study Essentials" from a local Christian bookstore to give to persons who have a computer and need a few resources to be better bible students.  Since these are powered by Libronix, and new resources will not be supported (which I understand completely and do not wish to get into the argumentative discussions on other posts concerning that subject) my question is which would you suggest of the following:

  • Would it be "better" in the sense of these persons being able to add resources in the future to look at the lower base packages in L4?
  • Or, since these persons are likely not to by any other resources, simply purchase the Libronix powered software because of an intial cost savings?

I have done this before for ten other persons and they still use and love the Libronix program, but they have never purchased any other books to add to their library that I know of.

Thanks in advance - and I really am interested in your recommended path.

It's up to you -- those packages are what they are. You can download the Logos 4 engine, though, and use it with those books even without upgrading. But I think that Logos 4 is a much better product, and the base packages in 4 are a great deal. But maybe there's a killer deal on the eBible packages... your call.

    Bob,

Thank you for the quick response!  The suggestion of downloading the Logos 4 engine is a great idea.

    Again,  may God bless you!

If they stay with Libronix, make sure they run the following scripts:

Before installing Libronix, check out this thread for a patch to make Libronix compatible with IE9:

Should make this thread a sticky!

I started on one of the budget libraries and never thought twice about it until I got a chance to try L4M. L4 was the game changer for me.

I see this is an older thread so I'm not sure if this info is outdated.

Today (8/31/2013) I found the eBible Libronix at a local Christian bookstore. There are a few women in our women's Bible study (65-70 yrs of age) who I have been assisting to help them use Logos Bible! App on their iPad. They each bought the eBible cd/dvd in a sealed case.

Can I install this on their laptop even if they do not have Logos on their PC and use their same Logos account they use to sign-in on their Bible! App on their iPad?

    Thanks for your help.

We are not computer savy, but I'm thinking the directions will be inside the CD/DVD case.

Since your primary goal seems to be using the resources on your iPads, installing the Libronix software (which is outdated) would not be the easiest way to do it. The easiest way would be to call Logos customer service and have them add the licenses to your account. Then you would automatically have access to the resources on your iPads and/or any computers you have with the later versions of Logos. They will probably ask you for code numbers that come with the retail package.

Is the license code inside the sealed CD/DVD case or on the disc itself?

Thank you for your help. We appreciate it very much.

For Libronix, this sometimes varied. Sometimes it was on the plastic wrapper, around the CD package.  Sometimes it was on a piece of paper inside the CD cover. Sometimes it was on the CD itself. There were even a few times when the license code was missing altogether (if that's the case, contact Logos and see what they can do for you).

The only way to know is to open a package and find out. Is there a reason you haven't done that?

Yes, because we are not computer savy so we aren't sure exactly what to do & once we open the CD/DVD case(s) they can't be returned. I let the women know I'd check on the forum for any assistance & information.

What a relief if all we need to do is contact Logos with their information

Our Bible study starts on 9/10 so this would be doable to phone Logos. We are happy, happy!

    John,

Thank you for helping with the info to phone Logos Cust Service. It took only a few minutes & he had the codes entered in my Logos Account. Then I closed my iPad Logos App, opened it up and the new books were there. I'm so very happy & grateful. Thanks again, it is much appreciated.
