Android Permissions

Logos for android is asking for the following permissions (among other) before the update:
(1) read and write my contacts?
(2) look for my GPS location?
(3) discover all my accounts on the phone?
Tech support answered that Logos doesn't "have any reason to need contacts, location or accounts". Why is the update then asking android users to approve these permissions?
