Book suggestion: Kosher Jesus

Rabbi Shmuley Boteach wrote a very significant book IMHO. Kosher Jesus will probably not be a book we would teach Christology in our churches from [:)] but it would be great to have it in Logos. It will shortly be available in Amazon and probably Kindle. To have it in Logos (or at least Vyrso) would be so much better.

P.S. There is an interesting article about the book in Jerusalem Post.

That's a great suggestion. I'd love to read that book; and I'm sure (reading with discretion!) that I would obtain some very rich insights indeed!

I always read your posts a wee bit more carefully than most of the threads. It seems that God has done a very good work in you, and that you are indeed a Poem of His for us all! I've seriously disliked this guy since the first or second column I read by him, and had no intention to buy any book of his, but after that article I'm beginning to feel sympathy for him. [:)]

Here are a couple of other books on this theme that I've intended to suggest:

Zolli, Israel/Eugenio: The Nazarene. The author was chief rabbi of Rome during the war, but converted to Catholicism just after. The interesting thing, though, is that the book was written much earlier, but nevertheless considered so orthodox that an archbishop offered to give it the imprimatur (I suspect he declined...).
Schäfer, Peter: Jesus in the Talmud. Quite a contrast between the positive review in HaAretz, and the negative one in Jerusalem Post!
Marshall, Taylor: The Crucified Rabbi. Judaism and the Origins of Catholic Christianity.
Pitre, Brant: Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist: Unlocking the Secrets of the Last Supper.

(And, yes, I want Zolli's autobiography as well (in Vyrso).)

Concerning the rabbi Boteach, I started to read the article because some time ago I listened to the public debate of Dr. Michael Brown and Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. In this light I found it very surprising to see his troubles now he has with some Chabad Rabbis for his new book. It is very intriguing actually.

It seems Michael L. Brown, the author of Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus, has now written a reply: The Real Kosher Jesus: Revealing the Mysteries of the Hidden Messiah. It also seems the two authors are friends as well as adversaries, which is always a good starting point for a public debate. [:)]
