A2 - Stuck at Logging In?

We've discovered a bug in the startup of the app that may prevent you from getting past the Logging In.. stage on Alpha 2.

We've got a fix for the next Alpha, but in the mean time, this should get you going.

Try this work around and let us know if it helps.

Open "Terminal" from Applications > Utilities

Type the following two commands:

rm ~/Library/com.logos.LogosIndexer.plist

launchctl remove com.logos.LogosIndexer

 

Now, restart Logos 4.

    Tom this isn't my issue (I have the eternal indexing issue), but thanks for posting this to the forum. It gives us an idea of what to not to bother to post about and also what to anticipate in the next release.

    I tried this fix but apparently the com.logos.Logosindexer file isn't on my computer because the response to the commands you gave tells me it can't be found?  Now what?  Any suggestions?

    Steven,

    you need to type "launchctl remove com.logos.LogosIndexer" on its own line (with no quotes of course).

    Note the 'l' in launchctl is lower case.

    Thomas, if you are unable to get it working following the above instructions, I suggest you wait until the next Alpha drop which should solve most (hopefully all) the install bugs.

    I was able to successfully finish indexing last night and went to bed happy that I could overcome this barrier! Yet, this morning I go to run it and it is stuck on the login screen. I copied and pasted the terminal commands and no cigar. Here's the responses to the terminal commands. The first one worked, but the second one doesn't:

    donovan-palmers-macbook-pro:~ dpalmer$ rm ~/Library/com.logos.LogosIndexer.plist
    donovan-palmers-macbook-pro:~ dpalmer$ launchctl remove com.logos.LogosIndexer
    launchctl remove error: No such process

    I guess I'll wait for the next release!

    Mine said the following:

    I have the same issue as Donovan, I saw that I was missing the 't' at the end of the first command.  This one worked, the second command did nothing.

    I had the same experience so I tried a different approach because I don't like working with the terminal window. Here is what I tried and it worked for me. Remember "Where there is a mac there is a way."

    I finished the installation and the indexing and was able to run A2 ok. The next day I tried to start it up and it hung up. I checked for the com.logos.LogosIndexer.plist file in the LaunchAgents folder and it was not there. A2 put it in the User Library folder. I moved the plist file to the LaunchAgents folder manually and then was able to successfully launch A2. However it created another plist file and put it in the Library folder again. Seems like A2 is confused where to put files.

    You're right. A2 is confused. A3 is right around the corner and it will fix this issue.

    You will probably get a better response if you post your question in a new thread. This one concerns A-2, but the Alpha program is now at A-5. Few people will bother to read.

    I am also not sure what your question is. Putting a plain-language email address in a public forum is risky. In the future you may use something like jackcaviness at mac dot com. If I can help you, put the address together and send me a note.

    Type "Update now" into the command bar without the quotation marks.  (The command bar is the one by the search button).  Wait until the list of possibilities generates and select the one that is not prefaced by "search for".  Wait a couple of minutes for the download to begin.  If the search is sucessful you will see a miniature logos icon in the OS toolbar near the clock.
