library

How do I do a search of the COMPLETE Library on a subject. Previous platforms of Logos offered this option at the end of passage searches (others too, I think). I can't seem to locate how to perform that task now.

Wonder about searching Heading Text; Large Text in Entire Library for a topical term ?
Also wonder if have looked at Logos 4 Passage Guide sections ? especially Topics, Illustrations, and Media Resources ?
Curious if thread => Fuzzy Search, Where are you dear friend? is interesting.
Wiki has Getting Started with Logos => Search with tips and many links
Wonder if have an example subject for search ?

Dear Dave,
As KS4J has suggested, it would be useful to have a little more information regarding what you are trying to achieve. However, running a search of your entire library can be achieved as per the screen shot below,
You will first need to open up a search panel by either selecting the 'magnifying glass' shaped icon towards the top left hand corner of your screen, by clicking on Go/Search or by hitting shift, command and S. The search panel should look like the panel displayed in the screenshot above.
Once you have opened the search panel you should ensure that you select 'basic' (in the top right of the search panel) and ensure, using the drop down menu, that the search range is set to entire library.
I concur that further clarification with regards to the purpose of the search would enable us to provide more specific and helpful advice. The example above is not a topic search (you suggest you are wanting to search by subject). In my experience, running a search of the entire library is often less than helpful and returns an unwieldy number results. This will depend, of course, upon the size of your library. (For example, the search for 'baptism' in the screen shot above will produce results of every occurrence of the word baptism in my entire library.) Should you find that the volume of results is unworkable, we can talk you through various strategies in order to assist you limiting (and better targeting) your searches (i.e., as suggested by KS4J, limiting your searches to, say, headwords or large text).
God bless,
Andy

Searching All Text in my Entire Library for baptism finds 115,662 results, which is unworkable. Continuing Andy's example, searched for images using #image NEAR baptism in All Text along with searching Title for Baptism plus Heading Text and Large Text searches looking for articles:
The image in The Bible Reader's Companion was opened from a Title search result. In the Topics section, number of "Look it up" entries depends on the number of encyclopedias in your Logos library. Personally Thankful for Scholar's Platinum plus additional resources, including => The Essential IVP Reference Collection Version 3 and Christmas 2011 Masters collection. Heading Text search found 586 articles while Large Text found 1,208 articles. The Title search found 14 results (images) while the #image NEAR baptism search found 496 results. Overall found 2,304 results, which is still a bit much so next step is refining search. Also could read some entries in Topics section and search results, looking for unique words that could be used to further refine search using Heading Text; Large Text
- believer baptism
- infant baptism
- John baptism
- Spirit baptism
- water baptism
When searching for two words without a proximity operator, then AND is assumed between the words so results show Heading Text or Large Text that has both words. Thankful for Search tips and links. Also can use a comma list of search terms: e.g. (believer, infant, John, Spirit, water) baptism
Sorting search results By Count shows resources with the most hits. By the way, the three resources shown in screen shot were part of the Christmas 2011 Masters collection; personally have not read them (yet).

Dave
To expand upon the example given you by KS4J & Andy. At the top of the search window see the line labeled "Topic"
Expanding this field will give you the result of a topic search. Note that you must search "Entire Library" for this topic field to appear. For a subject like "Baptism", expect a huge response.
