Hopefully will see syncing, highlights and notes in L4.5 and app 2.0.

I hope this will be a big step forward, and I really hope it will soon be followed by Personal Books in iPhone / iPad app.  Especially with a new version of the iPad just around the corner.

The prospects are exciting. It's difficult to be patient.

My understanding is version 2 paves the way for a number of additions to come, but they won't all be coming at once. I anticipate sync working properly as soon as the app is updated. Hoping to see at least highlighting as well, but we'll see if notes and highlighting are ready now or will be a future addition. Looking forward to personal books as well, but not expecting it yet.

v2.0 of the iOS app features notes and highlighting, synced, but not the v2 sync support for Reading Plans, which will follow shortly after.

As usual, I had things backwards. :)

Will look forward to reading plan sync support. That's my #1 wish.

Looking very much to this update. How long does it usually take Apple to release iOS updates?

Thanks so for getting this out!

It would be so awesome if 2.0 shipped by Friday, I'm going on a vacation and it'd be great to be able to highlight on my iPad while I'm gone!

I'm sure I read it had already been submitted and Logos were just waiting to release it...

I'm so excited to have note capability!

I've been playing around with Logos 4.5 today. Now I can't wait to see the app!

Right now we are just waiting for Apple to release it...I think it has been submitted and approved already. So we are just waiting for Apple to put it into the download stream! I am so excited. I am teaching on intercessory prayer at church (we are doing some evangelistic training) and I am excited to be able to put my notes on Logos and link to the resources I want to quote!

I begin to doubt that it was submitted, the blog states:

Now, with Logos 4.5 and the soon-to-be-released version 2 of the Logos Bible app for iOS (this functionality is coming for Android but it’s behind the iPhone release), this feature will be rolling out soon. (Look for an announcement here on the blog once the Logos iPhone app 2.0 is released.)

How come it is behind the iPhone release  when it was stated before by logos team that it was already submitted???

This is the iPad/iPhone thread, so I was referring to the app being submitted to Apple for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. No the Android app has not been submitted, Bob said the iOS (Apple) app had been submitted to the Apple iOS app store.

Why is it that a feature that previously worked is still broken but you are adding new features. The ability to sync reading plans was one of the selling points that convinced me to buy Logos yet it's been broken for almost 6 months and still has been fixed but you are working on new features. This is ridiculous and totally unacceptable. It's been stated that it was being worked on since september and was stated that it would be fixed with sync v2 yet still is broken. reading plans was one of the main things I had been using, notice had, since they have been broken for so I am sadly disappointed that I have invested so much in resources for software that doesn't even work as advertised. I have to say I regret investing so much in Logos believing that they would ahem a good Mac version and iOS app. Now I wish I had invested in other software which I cannot afford to purchase the resources for since I have sunk so much into Logos. I am really disapointed in your substandard product.

I don't want to hear it's coming soon. I've been hearing that and was told it would fixed with sync v2 but it's still broken. I wish I could get a refund for all the resources I've purchased and the money I have wasted on this product.

I answered this question a few weeks ago (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/5923.aspx?PageIndex=2), in a thread where your expressed similar sentiments. In a nutshell: the problem was exacerbated by the number of users, and required a complicated architectural fix that took longer than anticipated. It was also the kind of problem we couldn't fix just by putting more people on it, but it's now about done. (We're also making massive new investments in hardware infrastructure.)

Today we released 4.5; we should release Beta 4.5a as soon as tomorrow, which is the version with the fix for the reading plan sync, and we'll be aiming for a very short beta cycle. This is the only significant feature in 4.5a, and as soon as it's ready we'll release it and submit to the app store.

    I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Bob, thank you for your reply and yes it has been very frustrating for me because reading plans are one of the features I rely in the most. I travel extensively for work and spend a great deal of time using my iPad. Since reading plans have not synced properly with the iOS version I have had to use other software for reading plans. This has been very frustrating because may of the resources (books) I would set up reading plans for aren't offered for free for the other software I am currently forced to use. I do not want to pay for resources I have already purchased for Logos.

That is what has been so frustrating. The sync originally worked and I understand the technical issues you ran into but I have been waiting a considerable about of time for this to be fixed. For the reputation of Logos and the quality software that you have a history of producing this has fallen short.

Yes I do love Logos and can't wait to see these issues resolved. I like the effort you have put into L4M and am glad to see the Mac product you have produced. I am glad to see that 4.5 has been released and hope the reading plan sync issue is fixed very soon so that I can stop having to do work arounds for my reading plans.

Mark - I have not heard anything about when the mobile app will be released, although it is expected "soon." Logos is also at the whim of Apple to approve the app. It is possible that the app has already been submitted and is awaiting approval.

Will the iPad app support adding highlighting and notes, or simply display highlighting and notes made on the PC and/or Mac?

The 2.0 release of the iOS app supports the creation and viewing of both notes & highlights. A shortly released update will fix the reading plan sync issue.

Yes you can highlight and add notes from your ipad, it is very slick and at least when I have used it with only the Beta users it is almost instantaneous, as I would work between the ipad and my mac or pc.

Wondering is someone from Logos can enlighten me.  Are we waiting for Apple to put it in their download stream or is it already approved and Logos is waiting until they are ready to release the 2.0 app for iOS?

Like everyone, I am looking forward to the new version.

Very cool! I will look forward to starting my inductive Bible study! It's going to look good.

I was wondering since you have tested it, if we add images from our desktops for custom highlighting, does this sync to the iPad? I've needed to add some symbols used for more stuff in the inductive palette. I was going to add some more, but if they don't sync yet I was going to wait.

    Blessings,

    Philana

Did you have to download a special app to do so while you were on Beta?

I am not from Logos but I can answer your question [:)] From another post tonight:

A major new release of the iOS app has already been submitted to Apple; we're waiting for approval.

As for the update to the reading plan sync:

Today we released 4.5; we should release Beta 4.5a as soon as tomorrow, which is the version with the fix for the reading plan sync, and we'll be aiming for a very short beta cycle. Did you have to download a special app to do so while you were on Beta?

Beta's on iOS devices are different than on PC's or MAC's because Apple is very restrictive about what software is allowed on an iOS device (iPod / iPhone / iPad). Apple limits the number of beta devices that a developer can use and a unique identifier is needed for each device.

I am very impressed with the iPad app. Mine does crash constantly, but I feel certain Logos will correct that issue in the near future.
