Logos 4.5 available

Logos 4.5 is now available via automatic updates.
The biggest change is that Notes and Highlighting have been unified. Each highlight is now backed by a note in one of your Notes Documents; from there you can change the highlighting style, add or remove the icon that shows next to the highlight in the resource, and even add textual notes to that highlight in your Notes Document. When you upgrade, you'll get new Notes Documents for your existing highlights (one per highlighting palette); you can now turn sets of highlights on or off by (un)checking that Notes Document in the visual filter menu for a resource. Logos 4.5 will also sync notes and highlights with the upcoming v2.0 of the iOS app (keep an eye on the iPhone/iPad forum for an announcement of when that's available in the App Store).
We've also improved Personal Book Builder and added the ability to print footnotes (at the bottom of a page) when printing a Logos resource. On Mac, we've added Font Scaling and other improvements to get more parity with the Windows version.
The full release notes are here: http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4.5. The blog announcement is here: http://blog.logos.com/2012/01/updates-to-highlights-and-notes-coming-in-4-5/
To install the update, enter "update now" into the Logos 4 command box.

I updated to candidate release 4.5 (4.50.0.1843). Is this the same as the official 4.5? I type the 'update now' and simply getting the grey rotating mac "searching" sign without being able to update. Is there a link to the new one? Thanks.

Also getting grey 'spinnas' when I search for a passage in 'My Guide' or other searches. Any clue what is going on? Was running fine yesterday on candidate version and don't know if it has updated automatically.

.1843 was Release Candidate 1, the stable release has build number 4.50.0.1857.
A link to the installers is at http://wiki.logos.com/Installation_and_Indexing_FAQ$27s#What_is_the_direct_link_to_Logos_4_installers.3f - but it's strange that its not updating automatically.

Curious about passage ? Also wonder what sections are in "My Guide" ?
For clues, would like to see diagnostic log files after Logos 4.5 session with grey spinners.
Wonder about enabling diagnostic logging, then launch Logos 4 Mac, repeat crash, compressing log files, followed by reply with zip file upload.
Option: download and use an applescipt application 5504.Logos4MacLogging.app.zip to display your logging setting, then change to enable logging.
Wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging#Mac with terminal commands, which are used in the applescript application.
Wiki Mac Troubleshooting => How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac has the log posting steps, including link to Logos Log Scribe application to create a zip file on your desktop (copies console messages, then compresses contents of your Logging folder for posting).
If using stable 4.5 version, other option is contacting Logos Mac Support => http://www.logos.com/about/contact

I didn't expect I was going to say this anytime soon - but I'm impressed!
This really is the first time since Logos 4 was released that I noticed a major overall improvement in speed and responsiveness on my rather low-end laptop. I couldn't figure out by looking at the release notes what made this happen, but then I don't really care - it's just gotten significantly better, which is very welcome to me.
Great job, Logos, and thank you!

The 'full' release notes are not full [;)] I was very disappointed when I saw this:
- Font Scaling
- Text size slider has been added to Search panel menu, and is currently functioning only for Basic and Bible Search results (except in Analysis view). (See Known Issues for Mac.)
- Text size slider has been added to Favorites and Clippings panels.
I had gotten the impression that you had added far more sliders than that. And it seems you have, you just haven't added them to the release notes. So far I've found them in Collections, Note files, and Text Comparison, and I presume I will find a few more as I go on checking. So now I'm happier. But you mustn't scare me like that. It's not good for my heart.[:)]

Wiki Mac and PC User Interface Differences => Feature Parity section used to have:
- PC has more font size options: Program Scaling plus font slider adjustment in Bible Word Study, Biblical People, Biblical Places, Biblical Things, Cited By, Collections, Copy Bible Verses, Exegetical Guide, Explorer, Favorites, History, Information, Passage Analysis, Passage Guide, Passage List, Personal Books, Power Lookup, Program Settings, Pronunciation, Reading Lists, Reading Plan, Search, and Text Comparison. Specific Logos User Voice suggestion => Logos 4 Mac Program Scaling and Font Sliders, using new text slider in Logos 4.5 Beta 1 Basic and Bible searches may hang program; removed from known issues in Logos 4.5 Beta 5. Font slider added to Guides, some Documents, and many Tools in Logos 4.5 Beta 3, added to Favorites in Logos 4.5 Beta 7, added to Clippings inLogos 4.5 Beta 8 As of Logos 4.5 Beta 10, Copy Bible Verses, History, and Pronunciation are missing a font slider on Mac while Morph Search font slider does not work
Logos 4.5 Morph Search font slider does work, however Syntax Search does not so Feature Parity now has:
- PC Font Sliders in Copy Bible Verses, History, and Pronunciation are not (yet) implemented on Mac; Logos User Voice suggestion => Logos 4 Mac Program Scaling and Font Sliders
- PC Syntax Search has working font slider, not yet functional on Mac Logos User Voice suggestion => Logos 4 Mac Program Scaling and Font Sliders
