text comparison

Am a first day user trying to learn.  Video for "text comparison" says to select the "panel menu" button to then select "floating panel".  Unfortunately, selecting the "A" button, the "panel menu" button does nothing.  I don't get any drop down menu to select from.  Is this a bug?  What am I missing?

    Welcome to L4 Mac and to the Mac forum.

    The Panel Menu should be in the upper left corner of the panel. Unfortunately, the drop down is crowded out of existence. Cmd-Opt-F will open the panel in a floating window—applies to almost any window.
