Import Logos 3 notes to Logos 4

At last Logos 4.5 supports Notes the way I like! Thanks, Logos Team!
Now I need to import Notes from Logos 3 ==> Logos 4. The more I look for the steps in the Forums, Wiki, etc. the more I can't find them. Any clues would be appreciated.

Just type "import all" into the command bar.

Jack, do you still have Libronix installed?
The first step in importing L3 notes is to 'prepare' them in L 3. The instructions can be found here: http://wiki.logos.com/Importing_Notes_from_LDLS3
If you don't have L3 on your computer (it sounds like you do) I'd go to the trouble of reinstalling it, putting your note files in the My Documents/Libronix DLS/Annotations folder and then go through the steps in the link above.

If you have never imported LDLS3 notes into Logos 4 before, we recommend that you prepare your LDLS3 notes for import by following the instructions here: http://wiki.logos.com/Importing_Notes_from_LDLS3
Once you've done that, you can enter "import notes" into the Logos 4 command box to import your LDLS3 notes. (You can also enter "import all", which will import Notes, Favorites, Verse Lists, Prayer Lists, etc. See "Importing Libronix DLS Documents" in the Logos 4 Help for further details.)

Bradley, George, Mark:
Thanks for your replies. Here are more clues.
1. I downloaded the Logos3 script to add the custom toolbar which would update Notes for export.
(Note to lurkers: Firefox can't do this. You must use Internet Explorer.)2. The next step is to "save the script to the [MyDocuments]\Libronix DLS\CustomToolbars folder."
Win7 has no path like this. There is a Libronix DLS folder, but it has no Custom Toolbars folder.
I made one, loaded the script into it, and launched Logos 3.3. The next step is to "launch Logos3 and click the newly-added Update Notes Now button."
No button. Looked inside Tools > Power Tools too. No choice like that in there, either.Stuck again. Any more clues would be appreciated.

Did you right-click on a blank area at the top and select "Update Notes"?

Aha! Computers sure are picky.
After changing the folder's name and launching Logos3, I stepped back to watch the frog turn into a prince. Alas, no prince. No new button. (and no new menu option, either.)

Yes, I tried typing "update notes" in the GO box, but the command was ignored, as far as I can see.
Thanks for the tip, though.

Once again —
You may need to right-click on the toolbar at the top of L3 and select "Update Notes" for the button to appear.

Sorry to be so dense, George.
I right-clicked all over the top of L3 but failed to see any update notes option. I even tried clicking Tools > Libronix Update, but only got a "Launch error" message. Would it be possible for you to attach a picture?

When I right click on the title bar, I see only these choices in the popup:

Now if I could only get my popup to look like yours. It's probably a setup problem, but I'm still stuck.

Which version of L3 do you have? Click the Help button and then click About Libronix DLS...does it say you have version 3.0g? If not, you will need to update.

I'm helping out a friend who installed Logos 4 on his new computer, but has not loaded Libronix 3. Is there a way that he can copy his Annotations folder from his old computer to his new computer so that Logos 4 will recognize them?
Basically I'm asking what are the options for people who used Libronix but now have purchased a new computer and Logos 4 at the same time. Must they load Libronix on the new computer to import their old notes?
Any help you could provide would be appreciated

Todd, he can try importing them directly without the preparation stage, but he may not like the results. If it were me I'd try a few and see what happens. He can always delete them. If they are too messed up he probably will need to install Libronix just for this function.

I'd love to see a screen shot of your My Documents\Libronix DLS folders. I don't have access to my computer with Libronix on it to show you what I mean, but we'd like to be sure that your custom toolbar is in the right place.
I use Jing to capture screenshots. It is free and available at: http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html

If you have the old computer with Libronix prepare the notes and copy them to a removable drive. Logos 4 will find them on the new computer if they are stored at the same location i.e. \Documents\Libronix DLS\. Note that \Libronix DLS\ contains other documents like highlighting that can be imported to Logos 4.

Nope. All I see are "Quick Navigate" and "Standard." <sigh>

I will give this a shot.
If I understand the principle of this, the first thing that needs to happen is that the notes in Libronix need to be formatted for Logos 4. After that, they could be moved to the new computer.
Is the file location on the new computer essential to Logos 4 finding them and importing them?

Thanks for the tip, David.
I have L3, version 3.0g, and I ran the Update Libronix again, just to be safe, but no joy.
My thanks to everyone who is trying to help me.

Yes. It is the default location for Libronix documents i.e. \Documents\Libronix DLS in Vista/Win 7, but different for Win XP --> see http://www.logos.com/support/lbs/specialfolders

The sequence was:
1. download UpdateNotes.lbxctb to Downloads folder
2. Create folder ...\LibronixDLS\CustomToolbars\
3. Copy from Downloads to new folder.
4. Relaunch Logos 3.
5. Right-click on the Logos 3 menu to see:
Standard
Quick Navigate
Customize5. Click Customize
6. The dialog showed only Quick Navigate and Standard. Clicked New...
7. For each category, scanned all commands to look for Update Notes. No joy.
I think we're getting closer. Maybe just one more lightbulb moment will solve it.

I'm getting to the point that I don't know what else to do. ONE more thing—close and re-open Libronix then check again to see if you can bring up the UpdateNotes button (remember, right-click next to "Help").

Jack,
Somewhere in this discussion did you tell us what version of L3 you are running?
Also, perhaps the file download introduced an error?? Can you clear your browser cache and re-download the Update toolbar, put it in the correct folder and check for it again if you haven't already tried this? BTW: You should see it with the right click on the menu bar. You don't need to go to Customize. You need to check it to place it on the tool bar you see in L3, however.

Good. I was lazy and didn't want to reread everything. I imagine the toolbar should work in any version of L3, but thought we ought to check. I know, as you do, that it works in L3.

I'm running Win7, so there is no Documents folder or MyDocuments folder that I can find, even after setting WinExplorer to show hidden folders. Does Logos 3 look for the custom toolbar script in a different folder for Win7?

1. In Win7 there is a hidden AppData folder in my Users tree named ...\AppData\Roaming\LibronixDLS\
2. Added new folder CustomToolbars\ there.
3. Copied file UpdateToolbars.lbxctb into the new folder.

7. Looked in every category for Update Notes. No joy.

Open Windows Explorer
- Click on "Desktop" in the left pane.
- Click on your name in the right pane
- Click on "My Documents" (without the arrow) in the right pane
- You should find "Libronix DLS" in the right pane—click on that
- If it isn't already there, create a file for "CustomToolbars"
- Make sure it contains UpdateNotes.lbxctb"

Having performed remote helpdesk work over 20 years, I know how frustrating it is to try to help someone when you can't see the remote user's screen. My appreciation for the helpers on this forum knows no bounds.
Here's what I did:
1. Opened Windows Explorer and clicked on Desktop in the left pane.
2. Clicked on my name in the right pane.
3. There was no MyDocuments folder of any kind in the right pane.
So I made one. Also made LibronixDLS\CustomToolbars\ inside it.
Resulting path: \Desktop\jehairs\MyDocuments\LibronixDLS\CustomToolbars\4. Copied UpdateNotes.lbxctb file into the CustomToolbars folder.
5. Rebooted my computer to make sure everything was cleaned up, recognized, and copacetic.
6. Launched Logos3 as usual
7. Right clicked on the menu bar to see the menu dialog. No joy. It still contained only:
Standard
Quick Navigate
CustomizeThe Customize > New command choices still did not contain Update Notes, no matter how many times I checked all categories.

Hi Jack, I can tell you that this is not where the CustomToolbars folder needs to be. Because I am not at my home computer, I cannot tell you what it should be. As George said above, "My Documents" should be part of the folder tree.
0 -
Jack, in Win 7 My Documents appears under the section called 'Libraries' in Windows Explorer. Click under Libraries on the heading Documents. You should see two sub-folders. One should say 'My Documents'.
If it there is no 'My Documents' folder there that is where you need to create one. The actual location is shown in the screen shot below. It is under the Users folder under the c:\ drive. Check both locations. If there is not such a folder, create it under C:\Users\{your user name}, then create a LibronixDLS folder there and in the LibronixDLS folder create a subfolder Annotations CustomToolbars, and move the new toolbar there.

I've never seen a Win7 without it. Do you use a non-english Windows, so that MS maybe called it differently (they do) - I'm not even positive if it's possible to rename it even as an administrator-account. But you say, it now looks like

- Where I expected to see
the MyDocuments folder under Libraries\Documents\
there was none. (Hat tip: Mark)
- I had previously created a

folder, renamed LibronixDLS to Libronix DLS (Hat tip: George) - So the whole path is now User\MyDocuments\Libronix DLS\CustomToolbars\
(The person who installed Win7 made my user name “user” <sigh>) - Inside the CustomToolbars
folder is the UpdateNotes.lbxctb

Somehow I managed to “delete” the My Documents folder. It was only hidden, but could not be seen in

In Windows Explorer, navigate to Documents:5.
Right click on Documents
and choose Properties in the dialog.7.
Click Include folder8.
Click the My
Documents folder hidden inside it.
(I would include this picture, but I can’t duplicate what I saw the first
time.)9.
Navigate to C:\Users\user\My Documents\
(It is visible, now! There is a space between “My” and “Documents’) Computers
sure are picky.10.
Inside My Documents\ create new folders Libronix DLS\CustomToolbars\
(Space between “Libronix” and “DLS”)11.
Copy the UpdateNotes.lbxctb
file into the CustomToolbars\ folder.
(No space between “Custom” and “Toolbars”)12.
Launch Logos 3 and right-click just to the right of Help to see the custom toolbar dialog.
Alas, no joy. Same non-result as before. Thanks, Mark, George, Bradley, and the rest for you patient
