why so many update? I am so sick of it!

Last week I started Logos 4 it updated to 4.5 then re index and then installed another update then re index again. Today it installed yet another secret update.This really makes it a pain for someone who just want to use the software if every day I open and it updates every time.

Update all the time make me think Logos have a lot of bad programmer doesn't look good form a avg user stand point.

You can do what I do and turn off "Automatic Updates" in the settings. I follow the forums closely, and for 4.5 the beta forum too, and wait for the churn to die down before updating to the new version. In this case, I waited about 4 days to see the two service releases appear and then applied the update.

What ticked me off I open a big screen came up asking if I wanted to sync the software and had a start button to click. When I tried it locked up then a min later Logos 4 open and updated.

Thanks I disable auto update so I will see how it goes.

Randall - Most updates are related to resources being updated rather than updates to your software. This is a good thing and shows that Logos cares about its customers.

Software updates do not trigger indexing, so if you see that happening, a resource file has been updated. This is often because of spelling corrections or fresh linking features being added in.

There were some issues with 4.5 so there were two quick updates to that last week. Even with beta testing those issues were not discovered.

With automatically download updates set to No you will have to manually trigger an update when you want to check for one. Type Update Now in the Command Bar and hit enter to do this.

The update is not really the issue per say the issues is the locking up etc while it's doing what it is doing. I really don't see why the same resources need to be updated on an on going bases.

Since it has updated Logos 4 now seems sluggish when I click on menus etc.

I don't believe it is the same resource that was updated. Probably several different ones. As Alabama stated, resource updates are beneficial to users, but I can sympathize that they cause disruptions and frustration to users that need to WORK on a message without having to wait or especially experience a crash.

Do you know you can pause indexing (but endure the ever annoying web page popup for a millionth time[:(]) ? Simply right click on the blue Logos icon in the lower right corner and select "pause indexing for 4 hours." Of course, you can always un-pause it as well.

If you view the Logos app home screen, it should show you the last resources that were updated. Also, you could open your Library, switch to Detail view, make sure Updated is one of the fields, and sort it descending: that will put your most recently updated books at the top of the list and let you see what all has changed recently.

You can also cancel/pause updates by clicking on the blue logos icon.
