Is using the wiki for advertising Right?
Noticed yesterday John Fallahee modified the Home page of the wiki to link to his site.
Is using the wiki for advertiser's links acceptable by Logos?
He is selling training. (yes he does offer some free items, but where do we draw the line?)
i would hope this is NOT acceptable. The wiki could quickly be flooded with links to advertiser's sites, thus making it difficult to locate real wiki articles.

I'm in two minds about this, because John's stuff (particularly his webinars) are pretty good. But in the absence of any specific guidelines, I feel that the forum guidelines should govern the wiki also, and that the links be removed. I would have minded less if someone else had added them.
That said, I would not object to specific links to individual free videos on John's site from the relevant specific pages on the wiki (e.g. Visual Filters), as the purpose of that link would be primarily to help, not primarily to sell.
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

Maybe if the videos section was split into two sections, "Free Videos" and "Video Training Products", then people would know what they were clicking on before they looked, and it would keep the commercial links from being intermingled (to make it easier for Logos to clean them up).

I feel pretty much the same way. I also think it was pretty audacious of him to put the links to his own videos first before all the others.
I wouldn't mind if his videos were listed on the http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Video_Tutorials page, with a parenthetical comment that it's a commercial site not affiliated with Logos and some of the videos are not free.

I don't mind John's link on the Wiki at all. Every single forum thread that asks for help/videos/training points to Mark Barnes' videos, Mo Proctor's Camp Logos, and John's outstanding (and outstandingly affordable) commercial offerings (qualifier: every single forum thread that I've read). Two out of three of these are commercial in nature, and yet we respond by referencing them because they are the most comprehensive and helpful training resources available. Just sayin'.

I have concerns about commercial products as well but think that it is up to Logos to make a decision. In fact, John may have asked Logos first, for all I know.

Observation: John Fallahee's web site has been linked on Logos 4 Video Tutorials for many months. Also noticed another independent trainer so updated => Logos 4 Video Tutorials (now has two for purchase links) plus main wiki => http://wiki.logos.com/ trying to incorporate comments by many in this thread.
Edit: also updated wiki Getting Started with Logos => Learning Logos while being cognizant of several forum discussions about training so have purchase links for official and unofficial training plus links to free Logos 4.5 chapters by Morris Proctor for using highlighting and notes.
Please review and comment.

I don't mind the links. I really don't consider it advertising - its information I would want to know about if I was looking to learn how to use Logos. Having said that I would expect Morris to do the same. I do like the change KS4J did though.
