Footnotes and Scripture Reference Problems
I'm having mixed results with both footnotes and links to scripture in resources. For example, I downloaded the ESV and Carson's The Love of God devotional. Scripture links and footnotes both appear simply as black text (scripture references appear bold in the Carson book). They cannot be tapped for a reference. Other resources work fine however. This appears whether I am online or offline. Anyone else encountered this problem? I'm using a 2nd gen Ipod touch.

I'll post some pics tonight or tomorrow. At work now without the touch.
No, the 2nd gen doesn't run iOS 5.

Hi Leo
There was a discussion on this a couple of days ago, can't find it now!
The NASB on Logos 4 has footnotes starting at 1 at the beginning of each verse so it's not an iPad app issue.
I don't know what the paper version does.

Ok. Here are my screenshots:
Brothers We Are Not Professionals: Here the scripture reference links well
The Love of God Volume 2: Here the scripture references don't link at all
ESV: Here the footnotes don't link.
All of these were done while connected on wi-fi. The first and third book are downloaded as well.

Yes. I deleted the entire app and reloaded it. The problem also occurs whether the book is downloaded or not.

Hi Graham, you are right. I found that thread later. http://community.logos.com/forums/t/44973.aspx
The paper version has the verse number in front of each inline footnote, and that solve the ambiguity issue, like
17 1 Or by 2 Or But he who is righteous by faith shall live
18 1 Or by
19 1 Or among
Hope there is something similar in Logos! [:)]

Hi Leo
Thanks for finding the thread and checking the paper copy.
While I can see the need is slightly reduced in Logos - as you can get the footnote popups inline - it could be useful when looking at the footnotes at the bottom of the page.
I have sent an email to Logos asking them for their views on this.

Logos has advised that as they don't own the publishing rights to this
resource, they don't have the authority to add or subtract from what
content is included. They will look at it but ultimately it would be up to the publisher to
approve adding verse numbers in the footnote area. Thanks, Logos, appreciate the quick response.

Hi David,
I am able to reproduce your issue with "For the Love of God, Volume Two" on a 2nd Gen iPod Touch running iOS 4.2.1 (screenshot 2), but not on an iPad running iOS 4.3.5. I'm also unable to reproduce the ESV references issue.
I'll write up a case for the one I can reproduce and ask the Development Team about the other and get back with you. Thanks!

Kevin,
Great! I appreciate all the effort you guys put in, even for older devices. Also, as an update, my footnotes were working while connected to wi-fi today. However, I'm just checking them now, on airplane mode, and they're "off" once again.
