Word by word with BHS without ESV?

Hi,
Just wondering if it is possible to set the 'Word by word' function in the exegetical guide using the BHS/WIVU without the ESV text being displayed next to it?
When doing work with the USB4, no English text is provided in parallel with the greek and I am just wondering if the same effect can be achieved when using the BHS (Hebrew)?
I'm using the latest version of Logos on PC.
Cheers
Pete

Hi Peter - and welcome to the forums.
Interestingly when I run an Exegetical Guide against a New Testament passage in UBS4 I get English text as well (and I know of no way of disabling this). However, I don't get the ESV, I get the NRSV which I have as a higher prioritised Bible.
Do you have any Bible prioritisation set? I am wondering if this is affecting what we are seeing.
You may also be better posting this in the Logos 4 PC forum - http://community.logos.com/forums/76.aspx - as more people may see it there.

Sorry, it looks like all I've written was wrong! I'll try again (and this time I'm think I'm right!).
If you choose a version that supports sympathetic highlighting, then the English text will be displayed. If you choose a version that doesn't support sympathetic highlighting, then the English text will not be displayed (which I presume is the case for your UBS4). In my own library that includes a resource called Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia-Morphologically Tagged Edition. You may possibly have that or a similar resource.

I never use the exegetical guide so I'm not sure precisely what you mean, but could this be it?

I recommend you hide that particular resource. It is a very old edition of the Westminster database. (Newer editions have a version number in their titles - and the 3.5 and 4.0 really should be hidden as well. The un-numbered version is based on the 2.0 edition of the Westminster database, and is old enough to read the Twilight novels.) While the improvements in Westminster's analysis since then have been significant, for Logos users the difference is even more significant, since the old versions won't interact with KeyLink tables to get better lexicon look-ups, and they don't support homograph distinctions for searching, etc. I cringe every time I hear folk are still using those old editions.

I never, or almost never, use it though it's still in my library. Sometimes I use the older versions of BHS with the Westminster morphology as dupicate displays when I want to see a different passage without changing my current location.

Perhaps a better option is to right-click on an open resource tab (or on a book in 'My Library') and select 'open in a new tab'. Then you can have as many copies of the same resource open as you desire.

You can also use CTRL+SHIFT+N when you're in a resource to open another copy of the same resource.

I do normally have that resource hidden. I recommended it only because it didn't have sympathetic highlighting, which was what we needed for this purpose (unless there's another way of getting the English text not to show in the Exegetical Guide).
