Christian Audio Books / Survey (Please answer!)

Do you use audio books? Is there any advantage to an audio book and ebook being bundled, so you can read / listen / search? Would you listen to audio books from an app, instead of an MP3 player, if there was extra functionality?

I just did the survey! I hope M4B format can be adopted because of chapter breaks. Having chapter breaks that correspond to the print book is very important to me. Glad audio books are being considered.

What I would like is to be able to play Greek and Hebrew when reading the Bible in its original languages, so as to get a better feel for the cadence of the language. I do something do this as there are MP3s available on the web of both of these (I use modern Greek pronunciation), but having everything together in one place would be very useful.

Another benefit of integration of print and sound would be with grammar books. I'm reading through Kiraz's Syriac Grammar from Gorgias Press right now, and I use my MP3 player to listen to the audio recordings that accompany the text. With a platform like Logos, this could all be integrated. A product with sound/text integration would be great for any number of grammar books which come with audio CDs, and there must certainly be a demand among biblical students for French, German, Italian, Modern Hebrew etc.

Personally, I listen to audio books every day, as does my wife. The two times each day I listen are (1) when I drive, and (2) when I am going to sleep at night. My iPhone plays audio books via bluetooth through my car stereo. At night going to sleep I just listen to the speaker on my iPhone.

My wife listens on her ipod.

Have been doing this for years. I get two audio books a month from Audible, and usually buy another.

I think audio books from Logos would be great.

YES! Yes! yes!! Implemented in such a way that the Logos "Read Aloud" function was replaced by the audio corollary to the ebook resolves SO much for the visually impaired customer base... because, lets face it... Read Aloud is incredibly painful to listen to.

I do not currently use Audio Books

However I do get some sermons on CD and transfer them to MP3 for use while in the car. [I am not anti Apple but make it for generic MP3 - use anywhere - my car sound system takes MP3 disks]

One of the other posts listed Greek readings [Add Hebrew also please] Having the Bible in Hebrew [OT] and Greek [OT (LXX) and NT] would be something I would like [I know no Hebrew nor Greek but to hear the scripture in the original]

I marked 3-5 times per year on question #3, but it would be more if I could find more books I was interested in listening to. I drive 45 minutes each way to work, so I have plenty of time.

I format my MP3 files to be in segments 5 minutes long max. [edit MP3 programs are on the web that slice by time] Thus when traffic gets [pick a good Christian emotional but polite word for busy] I wait until it clears and hit the back one track button to re do the missed part. re doing 5 minutes is OK - back to start? not a good option.

Yes, indeed I do use audiobooks and generally avoid duplicating titles unless there is a really good deal being offered.

I tend to use iTunes currently to organize them.

Have quite a few that were bundles on third party Libronix CDs several years ago.

I sometimes have an hour commute each way and have become a huge customer of christianaudio.com. They are missing a streaming function, so if Logos could help them implement that, it would be great.

Also, I regularly listen to an audiobook version while I read along. It helps me remember what I read.

I'm reading the Bible many times so that I read and listen it simultaneously and I like that method very much. I'd really like to have audio Bible feature for Logos, and for many different translations. Could Logos try to ask for co-operation with Faithcomesbyhearing?

The Greek Audio New Testament is great! I'd like to see (hear) also a Hebrew audio OT. I suggest co-operation with http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt00.htm for that (BHS read aloud with very clear pronounciation).

I'm not so interested for other audio books, but it may be nice to have some to listen when driving a car from city to other.
