Improve the speed of searching in Bibles

Seriously though I don't think thats going to be a problem in Version 4 based upon the teasers we have been given so far.

maybe it's your computer? your library? mine runs faster than other bible programs i use.

Searching bibles has nothing to do with one's library size since you are only searching one resource
I have had both Logos and Bibleworks installed on the same computer for almost seven years, Bibleworks has been consistently faster. It is like comparing cable internet and dial up with everything else equal
This is why I never use Logos for bible search.
I am hoping this will change with version 4 in addition to being more intuitive including the ability to select passages without having to type (drop down buttons for books, chapter, and verses)

If you are a doing a Bible Speed Search, yes you are only searching one reference, so library size would not matter. If you are doing a Bible search (not speed) you search multiple Bibles and depending on add ons and base packages you can have a different number of Bibles to search from.
Additionally, the comment about speed of search assumes all the parameters of both searches are the same. I am not certain but going to guess that Logos and Accordance and Bible Works and PCStudy Bible and MacSword and whoever else is out there all tag their Bibles differently. If a Bible text has no tags in it, then a straight word search will fly, but if there are additional unseen tags and cross-references that the search has to scroll through it will be much slower as it has more data to look at. (It comes to my mind and I will have to double check this now, but I think Accordance and Logos came up with a different number of verses using NASB for David as well...I need to double check that.)
The video link above has other oddities as well. My Logos library loads us with 2 icon bounces. I don't know why his loads with 15 (I believe that was his number). He is using a MacBook Pro and I am using a plain old MacBook. I am up and loaded in Logos (with the start up music) and searching before his Logos even loads. Further, my search of David (a bit generic, but okay) was faster than his as well.
Still, yes, Logos is slower in search...but for crying out loud, we have a Bible program that can search the entire Bible in seconds!!!!! Technology is awesome.

Who, the guy on the video or the guy who started the tread and posted the link? To me the guy on the video came across as an Accordance employee masquerading as an independent benchmark tester. He didn't exactly go out of his way to point out that the actual search completed in the blink of an eye and that the slow behavior was only the update of the results window (a consequence of the IE browser interface, in my opinion). He also failed to mention that if you have the bible open when you do the search all of the results are highlighted in the bible window (also in the blink of an eye) making the search results window a bit superfluous anyway. Neither did he mention that the search engine is threaded so even a full library search (which does take a while to complete) doesn't prevent the user from browsing results immediately.
Either that guy is the worst bench tester the world has ever seen or he has an agenda. I suppose there are some people out there who can't make another move until the whole update operation is complete but I think, if you're intent on doing and honest, thorough and unbiased evaluation, then you kind of have a duty to mention that it's really not necessary, don't you?
To me it's all irrelevant. That is, the slow updates he was pointing out don't slow me down in the least. However there are some enhancements I wouldn't mind seeing. For instance, I never look at the verse excerpts in the search results window. Most of my bible searches scan a group of bibles and I'm mostly interested in the grid that comes up. I wouldn't mind seeing an option to turn them off.
I think also it would be nice, if one does a search on a single bible, to have the highlighted results propagated to other bible windows that are open or are subsequently opened. In fact what would be really cool is an alternate color highlight of verses that match a found verse in the searched bible but don't contain the search term. Then you would have a kind of quick and dirty version of the "Compare Bible Versions" tool.

NASB search for David in both Logos Mac and Accordance returns 1137 hits (Accordance requires the wild-card character). I agree with the two-bounce dock icon. Your best point, however, is that we can in seconds in either application that which would have taken weeks when I accepted a call to the first Church I served. How spoiled we have become. [:'(]
