On my new fast laptop, a search for references to the book of Joshua in the Catholic - Latin rite - USA lectionary took 100.14 seconds. Search term <Joshua>. This strikes me as a slow response.

on my old slow netbook
I get:
My 12 month old i5 laptop takes 53.3s
My i7 Desktop takes 26.7s
What are the specs of your "fast" laptop. Do you consistently get about 100s?
EDIT. My lectionary is LLS:CATHLECT
For grins, searched All Text, then clicked individual search fields. Personally learned Lectionary Reading has same number of articles as All Text, but half the number of search results:
After first search, subsequent searches showed similar speed as screen shot (searching specific fields or All Text).

Oddly, searching for Joshua in the Catholic Lectionary takes 0.6s (on my system) with 48 results in 20 articles. While searching for <Joshua> in the Catholic Lectionary takes 67.48s with 96 results in 20 articles.I assume the count difference is explained by references like "Joshua 3:7-10a, 11, 13-17" counting for 3 instances of <Joshua> but just one instance of Joshua. But the speed difference is 10X. I can imagine the parsing taking longer, but 10X longer?
EDIT: After posting I read KS4J's post more carefully. I also have a significant speed increase running the search for <Joshua> a second time. So I decided to run it on <Judges> this took 46.22s (88 results in 28 articles). Running it a second time also shows a significant speed increase. Going back and running <Joshua> again is still much faster (less than 3s).
Then I searched for <Joshua> in the Nelson Study Bible (NKJV edition) - just because it was open at the moment. Results returned in less than 3s the first time. Same results for the Revised Common Lectionary, the Lutheran Service Book 3 yr, and the United Methodist RCL (all < 3s).
I've found pretty much the same as others - it is the first search that is ultra-slow, that Joshua is faster than <Joshua>, I had a browser w/Zotero open but no other user app up.
