Pulpit Commentary

I can not locate the Homiletical entries in the Pulpit Commentary L4. I can find the index, but they point to some random point back in the text of the book, rather than to sermon outlines that are a major parts of this tool.

Which volume?

I tried in L3 and L4 in 1 Sam. Went to the Homiletical index. Clicked on p21 - "Undeserved Rebuke" went to the same place in each. (L3 a line lower and cut off the All Caps line.)

Also - are you using the Homiletical Index at the end of the book? When I use this, I am taken to the page number indicated, but not to the sermon.

You've got some kind of a bug, but it works for me.

I open the Table of Contents - click on Homiletical Index at the bottom of the list - then clicked on the "40" at the end of "Salvation a Matter of Universal Interest" and it took me to p40 and the heading Vers. 10-12. "Salvation a Matter of Universal Interest"

Okay - I think I can reproduce the error/behavior here. The link takes me to the top of the page, not to the sermon I have chosen. But there is no indication of the beginning of the page number (like I see in your pictures). If I have a full page open, I can see the sermon outline at the bottom of the page; but because I was using four panes, I only had quarter of the page open and could not see the homiletical section at the bottom of the page.

I would think that the homiletical hyperlinks should take me to the sermon, not to the top of the page that they are on. A book index will take me to the page, but a digital resource should take me to the item to which it points.

Well It depends on how the links were built. The links are actually on the page number reference, not the name of the sermon, so there is logic in the way it works. The PC is a large resource, so linking the page numbers to the page probably saved a lot of time versus manually identifying the beginning of each sermon.

I no longer have my print copy of the PC but would guess that Logos simply reproduced the print copy index which would have been to page numbers.

If you click on the visual filters Trinity thingamajig at the top of the resource pane you should have an option to show page numbers. That's what I did.

The link took me to the top of the sermon outline not just the page. Update: in 1 Peter the sermon starts at the top of the page, but in the screen shot you can see that the page break is a few lines down. The link to me to the page as shown in the screenshot. No after scrolling, honest!
